But as we didn't install the gate one, we will still need to have key to enter.. Perhaps in future we will get one for the gate..
intonewlife 2 Report post Posted October 22, 2014 Recd 6 quotes from id and contractors. .. what a headache to compare them.appreciate if you guys would help to ask e following qns:1) is the color of internal pvc of the cabinet important? The highest quote included the internal color pvc, while the rest is just internal white pvc. 2) painting service is so expensive. . I thought of outsourced it to painting contractor. What do you guys think?3) I tried to ask for discount from ids... the percentage they give is not alot. What is your experience
DaddyWinter 10 Report post Posted October 22, 2014 Usually their tactic is to mark up on their quotation, then when you ask, give about 5% or so... just tell them how much your budget is and if it is possible to do all you want with the budget, else forget it u will look for another.Painting service with ID definitely cost more than you outsource, but you need to coordinate all these yourselves. If you are willing to sacrifice your time to supervise yourself and stuff like this, why not?For me, I really just like internal white PVC, unless you really need it to fit into your theme else totally not required, the money can be better spent elsewhere.Just my 2 cents.. intonewlife 2 Report post Posted October 22, 2014 Thank you daddywinter for your input. As for painting service, which of renovation stages does it requires? My initial thought is last stage of renovation after installation of electrical works and carpentry, before general cleaning.

aluka 32 Report post Posted October 23, 2014 Recd 6 quotes from id and contractors. .. what a headache to compare them.appreciate if you guys would help to ask e following qns:1) is the color of internal pvc of the cabinet important? What do you guys think?3) I tried to ask for discount from ids... the percentage they give is not alot. What is your experienceHi,Yes, it is a big chore to compare quotations. It gets even more complicated as the IDs have their own style of quotations. Some quote a standard package and then add-on the additional items. Others go by item by item as per your requirement. In any case, take time to review - mark the odd ones out and ask questions.Feel free to mark up the whole quote in pencil and ask questions either in-person or in email. Ask them to respond for each of your quotation.Internal color PVC - is a choice you can make. I went for internal colored PVC for my exposed areas like display cabinet, altar, glass shelf.Rest of the closed areas I went with white. Some people prefer internal colored PVC for wardrobes whereas for kitchen most people go for whites. Painting: Is a standard affair. The cost difference usually is the choice of colors. If you choose more number of colors, then the cost would go up. Can you share what's your quote for painting service. I paid roughly 2K for 5 Room including painting for door frames, doors and exposed Pipes. Discounts: reserve for the last. First go item by item, negotiate and then ask for discount later. Just from my experience..Goo luck!

MrWhiteKnight 10 Report post Posted October 24, 2014 I met up with my ID 3-4 times before signing with him and placing a deposit as I started sourcing for IDs in Jan when i can only start my reno after July and I didn't wanted to commit to him before i can have a confirmed quote as I was worried that I might have overlooked certain items and after signing the quote, the newly added items will be priced unreasonably. Hence the delay in signing with him.Even though through the course of the reno there is abit of hiccups here and there. kinda still glad going with him as he doesn't push the blame and not those rude unreasonable type of IDs some renotalk peeps complain about. =D
intonewlife 2 Report post Posted October 26, 2014 http://m.ikea.com/sg/en/catalog/products/spr/89884525/Can these shelves installed in the bomb shelter as I understand no drilling is required? As I was quoted about agd 2000 for custom made waredrobe in the bomb shelter, I m seeking for alternatives.
looneygas 13 Report post Posted October 27, 2014 Those Ikea shelves can be installed but you aren't maximizing the BS space. Storage is very precious in current tiny HDB units and it gets even more precious when you have kids. Btw, try not to get Ikea shelves for heavy duty items as they tend to warp.
