ajrenojourney 2 Report post Posted August 25, 2014 HELLLOOOOOOOOO! We're here to record our reno journey and hoping to share some ideas. We have engaged Kelvin from Design Profession. Kelvin is quite efficient, he gave us a quotation within 3 days, we looked thru what he offered and told him that we need to think over it. He contacted us 1 week later to ask us about our decision, we told him we plan to source for other ID companies that can offer better quotation. He did not get angry or pushy, he said its okay to source around. We met him a few times and decided that we have this chemistry going on, so we decided to hand this reno to him. ajrenojourney 2 Report post Posted August 25, 2014 We bought simple toilet accessories from Taobao (eg. 2 toilet paper case, 3 single and 1 double shampoo glass shelf and 1 towel rack.) All in plus shipping SGD250.00. From our point of view, it’s quite risky to get taps and rainshower system from Taobao as we are afraid that the insides of the taps will rust without us knowing it. MOREOVER WE WILL BE DRINKING WATER FROM THE TAPS! #paranoidnewhomeowners We met Kelvin on 16th August 11am. We went Hafary to choose tiles for our master bedroom toilet, and craft stones for featured wall. All went well until we moved to the next destination for toilet accessories. Kelvin brought us to Living Phenomenon to get necessities for MBR toilet and kitchen. I was quite taken aback after looking at the price. After getting all the items, the salesgirl refused to give me more discount. Fortunately we did some simple research on toilet accessories before, this shop is selling Joven Heater 35L @ SGD300.00, whereas I can get the same thing at Universal Union or Wasser Bath @ SGD250.00. So I insisted, she got no choice but to charge me SGD250.00. FYI, THIS SHOP CHARGES GST. We paid SGD2,150.00 for :1 unit - One piece WC Suite2 units - S/S Bidet Spray1 unit - Nickel Finished Rainshower System1 unit - 35L Joven Storage Heater1 unit - Basin and Tap1 unit - Kitchen Sink and Tap Lighting shop is just beside Living Phenomenon. We got only 3 sets of lights from Focus De Lightings. Total damage here SGD330.00. The rest of the lights are sponsored by our uncle. We got the exact same light for our MBR toilet from Focus @ SGD178.00 Taobao is selling @ RMB49.00 which is SGD10.20. Even I add in shipping, it won’t cost SGD178.00 right. On the other hand, Kelvin’s contractor went up to my unit to hack off the original HDB toilet bowl, sink and shower system. Went back to his office to choose laminates and doors. We ended the session at 8.30pm because 3 of us were quite zombiefied already. Brain juice all dried up after 8 hours of decisions making.
ajrenojourney 2 Report post Posted August 25, 2014 We sent application for Smooth Floor Rendering on 4th August. It was done on 7th August. This service is provided free by HDB. It's quite lucky that we dont have to wait so long because one of our neighbors requested for the rendering quite urgently. We heard the normal waiting time is about a month..?? Hall. Passage way to rooms. MBR
ajrenojourney 2 Report post Posted August 25, 2014 (edited) 23rd August :We met our ID straight at our flat for some discussions. We're so excited to see the workers have started work. ajrenojourney 2 Report post Posted August 25, 2014 (edited) OUR PRETTY FEATURED WALL! Totally in love with this! Kitchen cabinet base. They sealed that portion up, so that our glass backing will not be affected. The carpenter was there as well, he showed us some ideas how our kitchen cabinet / wardrobe will be like, and ask if we need more drawers or shelves for our kitchen / wardrobe. It can be customized to our needs and liking. So here's our 10ft wardrobe. We burned another weekend again, bought our appliances and sofa from Courts, dining and coffee table from Picket and Rail. So tiring yet fulfilling! So looking forward to see more progresses this week! Air-con trunking will be done TODAY!
