quarkz 2 Report post Posted August 7, 2014 Hi,After moving in our resale flat, we noticed sewage smell in the toilet on and off. Can't detect actual location where it came from. My ID told me to pour bleach into the drainage holes (the cover with lots of small holes, no sure what it's called) for wait for a day. Seems not much improvement. Also bought and used drainage cover, which blocks the drainage with an additional internal cover. Seems to have improved abit although we are not so sure too.Someone else also has similar problem - http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/65825-feces-smell-in-kitchen/They suggested pouring in hot water. My father in law suggested pouring in those drain unclogging solution, still haven't tried ...Any other solution? Thanks
Harry 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2014 I have this similar smell in my toilet. My child trace it to the toilet bowl. Apparently minutes leaking from inside the toilet bowl. I got serviceman repair and I realise is the smell is that water when we flushed down it regurgitate back to surface and the faeces which is struck inside the pipe mixed with the water and leaking out. Is very scary and luckily solve it once and for all.
agalee 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2014 I have the same smell in my toilet as well. The HDB guys are unable to trace the source of the problem (after coming down more than 4 times). They suspect that it might be a small crack in the air vent.. Harry, you managed to solve the problem?

quarkz 2 Report post Posted December 14, 2014 hi ppl, I finally managed to trace the problem of the sewage smell. We suspected it's the A contractor told us to cover the drainage holes and observe to make sure it's really from the drainage holes. Well, the smell is still there so in the end we realise it's the toilet bowl. Should have done it earlier. Asked my ID to get the contractor to re-install the toilet bowl. Seems that they didn't do a good job the 1st time round. Can't believe this since I thought it's a routine job.Anyway, it's finally ok now.
