Our Reno Journey

yes, it is much cooler compared to the other parts of the wall..

I jus called my contractor, and he says most likely is water leakage. advise that i call HDB first.

my flat is more than a year.. sigh...

Hi, depending on how fast you want it to be done. We have contacted HDB contractors before and their response are fast, just that the timing etc if i would have a choice wouldn't want to call them. Outside contractor do faster, but more expensive.

After a year, they will still charge you at market rate. This actually is unacceptable to have leakage inside a wall but before we jump to conclusion, i would firstly call the HDB contractor arrange a time and let them diagnose. concurrently you can ask your previous contractor that does plumbing for 2nd opinion.

Then you can decide.

the 'mold' area is cooler to touch compared to the surrounding?

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

At least we have narrowed down the possible root cause. If hacking is required, then HDB need to answer who will pay for the hacking fees, applying fees, haulage etc.

If want to be even nastier to HDB, ask them to cover some of the defects esp. when it comes to 'water proofing' because it is in their 'policy' to prevent water leakage esp. to those in the bathroom. If not why do we pay so much and not allowed to hack toilet tiles etc?

To be critical, a 'feedback' letter to town council can be done too.

i hope i didn't sound too critical and making a fuss out of a mole hill. If you just want it to be rectified, like your contractor say contact HDB first, ask them about the issue and who will pay if hacking is required.

Because if the leak gets worst and worst, the water proofing will not help you in your MBR as the water proofing is only in the toilet and soon, your neighbour will complain.

Then can ask HDB, if they want 2 issues or 1 :notti::notti: i better stop commenting.

they wanted to do it ASAP because they think the leak is bad.. and if carry on may even affect my neighbors downstairs..

after that is done, i dont know if i want to paint my wall again or just leave it be.. hahhaa

Hi Raydon

Sorry to see the water leakage. Hope HDB can give a satisfactory solution to it.

I am interested in your shower screen in the common bathroom. May I know the length & width? Does a medium build guy feel restricted inside? As in bang here bang there during normal shower? How much does your contractor quote you for this?

For my bathroom, the ID quoted:

3' top hung cabinet with mirror - $480 (which I think your basin mirror can replace this, how much u bought from ikea?)

3' vanity cabinet - $390

3' solid surface - $240

Shower Screen L shape - $650

Hi mmoh,

it is about 90cm x 65 cm. honestly i feel its quite a small space... can feel quite restricted...

my contractor quoted me $880 for it.. which is **** expensive.. i asked for overall discount..

i did search for direct supplier and the price is about what your contractor quoted you...

the basin mirror cost me $60 each from IKEA.

90cm x 65cm quite small I feel. The ID said my L-shape shower screen is 90cm x 90cm which I thought was quite ok, but still have to depends on the actual size of the bathroom after I collected the keys.

Will go for the basin mirror! save me $420! :good:

Hi I read that you laid vinyl for your whole house and hdb did thrnscreeding. Any issues thus far for the flooring? Like unevenness or hollow sounds?

Hi everyone, we have just installed Evorich Vinyl Flooring - Amsterdam Eggshell series a few weeks ago.

However, we noticed some planks had white squiggly lines that go against the grain patterns, while some planks had normal grain patterns.
The white squiggly lines actually looked like manufacturing defects to me.

May I know if anyone encountered similar issues?

P/S: My apologies, I am relatively new to the forum and could not attach the pictures onto the thread > <
