My Humble Abode For My Two Munchkins

Recommended Posts

Hi Melaniessl !!!

Really look forward to see another Renzz project! Good deal you have there from Mayer *envy*

As for painting, I think Nippon's quote will be the same as Renzz's, isn't it? If cost is comparable, it is advisable to let ID manage the painting process (less pain).

Keep posting yaar!

Agree on that if the pricing is similar as you just need to deal with 1 person rather than 2.

If there is any knock or issue, they will not be able to push it to each other if all is handle by the ID

Hi Everyone,

Sorry have not been posting regularly as too busy with the reno, buying lots of stuff, and managing my two munchkins.

Updates below:

1) Painting. My ID quoted me $3600 to paint the whole hose as my house has some areas with high ceiling especially bedroom 2 plus the staircase area. Nippon Paint only quoted $2100!!!! They came on site to paint and total will make 2 trips to paint. 1 trip is 1 day and the second trip is 3 days to complete all painting. :) So of course we chose Nippon paint. This includes free two ceilings with anti mould medi fresh paint and whole house walls in odour free easy wash which is considered their most premium range. You can choose up to 4 colours (this incudes white if you have white). Ceiling is matex paint. I strongly recommend Nippon painters - they are very professional and prompt and you know for sure you'll be getting Nippon paint plus they are very affordable :)

I chose a white colour for majority of the house (quite boring i know but best to stick to white for the clean look to brighten up the place and make it look bigger), my 2yo son's room is light baby yellow, and light baby blue and my older son 6 yo chose fire engine red! Yes we sort of regretted the moment we opened our mouths and asked them what colour they wanted for their rooms. BIG mistake cos they started choosing all sort of weird colours. And we had no choice but to allow it. Luckily i managed to persuade my older son to only paint a small nook of his loft area in red. PHEW.

My son's loft is up and his red part has been painted - can't see very clearly but tadah - here it is!

My son is super excited about his loft!!

More updates.

I've decided on several items already:

Also bought a rainshower for my master toilet that is quite cheap from Grohe during sales. Only $281 - cheap right?

Finally decided on kitchen sink and mixer - was thinking for a long time between overmount or undermount kitchen sink and finally decided to go with overmount to save myself the heart ache in case undermount start to sag after a few years - but undermount looks a million times nicer :)

My sink thickness is 1.2 - thickness is very important.

My kitchen faucet - i couldn't choose a fancy one as i have a Tupperware water filter to fit onto it.

32843000.gif

The base is quite solid so it won't start wobbling after a while - hate it when that happens.

Also i managed to squeeze the smallest bathtub ever made into my son's toilet as they both of them keep asking for a bathtub. The moment i talk about their toilets, they both go into a trance and keep repeating bathtub bathtub bathtub. So no choice have to get them one. :) Here's how the tub will look. Yes we will be putting it the other way so that they don't bump their heads on the bath mixer when they sit in the tub. It's not really a bathtub but i think it will shut them up :)

OK i'm going to makan will update on more stuff when i return - all my taobao purchases, my philips lights and my TV etc.

:) :) :)

When they get bigger they may not want to use the bathtub anyway thus I think it may be good to just get this instead of a bigger bathtub.

If there is really a need, maybe yrs down the rd reno the bathroom and install a bigger one ~

I bought the Grohe rainshower from the Grohe shop at IMM. They have a few on sale promo but pls go quick as i suspect the promo may end soon. Ask them to show you their promo brochure. I bought everything from the promo brochure. all my shower/bath mixers, basin mixers etc bought the whole set type VERY CHEAP.

My Taobao purchases: I spent a super long time on taobao and finally decided on my purchases!

Lots of cupboard knobs and handles. My inspiration are the traditional american kitchens like this: Look at the lovely drawer handles! My kitchen cabinet colour will be matt white and the handles are matt black. I couldn't afford to do the nice wooden trimmings pattern. :( My kitchen top will either be black granite or black quartz or black ceasarstone - have not decided yet

My master toilet is wooden tiles for floor, subway tiles white for walls, kompacplus surface top in wood to match wooden tiles, cabinet in matt white with the same matt black handles i posted above hence decided that matt black toilet accessories will look good - fingers crossed.

Toilet accessories for toilet one and toilet two for each of my son's rooms:
