Dwinsplace 48 Report post Posted May 26, 2014 Why don't you do a digital lock for your gate too? Problem solved... Google interlock Singapore. The answer there may suit you. Thanks ihheng. We considered that but my irritating need for convenience still didn't like having to search for 2 RFID cards and opening both. I'm being difficult I know. Plus the big metal plate needed to be added to the metal gate was a bit of an eye sore. Spent an afternoon looking through gate designs to find a nice one that could fit the gate and had zero inspirations. I guess I feel that the look of the main door is important because it's the very first impression of the home within. I'm just super picky la. Lol.

Dwinsplace 48 Report post Posted May 26, 2014 Try those gate + door (Doctor Door is one of them if i am not wrong) which have only 1 lock to open.Saw that too! And it's definitely a consideration. And it's a Singaporean invention! *singaporean pride* Told ID my idea and she says she will ask te door specialist to see if it can be done and if I need the door to be fireproof. If the idea fails then I'm most likely opting for the combined door/gate option.

Dwinsplace 48 Report post Posted May 27, 2014 (edited) This is our confirmed space planning for the new house. This pic shows red walls to be hacked, and blue walls to be built. As you can see we didn't change the layout too much cos in the end, we felt that we needed walls for privacy and noise isolation. Main changes would be:1. to open up the kitchen (very common and popular now).2. Open up an access from service yard where we hang clothes, to wardrobe area where we iron/keep clothes. Saves me from going one big round.3. Relocate door of study and add a feature to the wall.4. Hopefully extend the master bathroom to have a shower we can dance in. lol.And this is what the new space will be like with all the built in capentry etc!!Super excited about getting the 3D images next week so we can see the aesthetic come to life. Also want to be able to confirm stuff so that we can fix dimensions and start on our custom sofa/ TV console. And buy lights! And toilet stuff! fun fun fun! Dwinsplace 48 Report post Posted May 27, 2014 No need to transfer via desktop. For both Photobucket & Flickr, you can upload directly from iphone using their app.For photobucket, the app also gives me the img link so I can post off mobile with photos. For Flickr, not sure if this can be done.Kstoh, I've since switched to photobucket and its SOOO much better. thanks for the recommendation!
Ks Toh 74 Report post Posted May 28, 2014 Hi, great that you found photobucket useful. I also think so but photobucket has a bandwidth limit which I hit every now and then. So, now I use Flickr instead! For the rest of my pictures.See here: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/62505-top-kew-drive/?p=857347
Dwinsplace 48 Report post Posted May 28, 2014 Was discussing my network plan with a colleague when we both should have been working. After reading blogs by maviscaste and kstoh, I'm sold on the idea of structured networking in the home. Too much of our lives are now connected to the net and too many devices benefit from being on the home network. Media players, tvs, printers, laptops... So without further ado, my plan:Instead of placing the router next to the ONT near my TV, I'm gng to run a long cable from the ONT to my study and place the router there. That means that the wireless reach should be a lot stronger and more even throughout the house. Running subsequent wires from the study out to the individual rooms also saves me wires! Versus running long cables from each room to the tv console. Plus I'm hoping that means the cables will be kept thinner and more manageable, and less unsightly. Also, having it all in the study is kinda appropriate since thats where my computer will be anyhow and it will allow me easy access if even I need to troubleshoot/ configure the system.
Scandipenguin 21 Report post Posted May 28, 2014 My speakers came!! All nicely boxed within boxes within boxes. Super protected haha. Now they are sitting in my living room and taking up space till I can give them their proper new home. speakerboxx by dwinsplace, on Flickradiva in box by dwinsplace, on FlickrAdiva by dwinsplace, on FlickrLove my new Anthony Gallo Adivas! Size of a grapefruit and has a good weight to it. The stainless steel finish is also gorgeous. Unfortunately, the grill covers were grey when i wanted black. I checked online and its true, they are only black when the body is also black. But when I wrote to them, they wrote back the next day and said they had black ones and would send them to me free of charge! Whoo! Ten points for customer service. Now the bigger adivas will match the smaller surround ones:Micronucleus by dwinsplace, on FlickrAnd this is my bigass (and super heavy) subwoofer. Dwinsplace 48 Report post Posted May 28, 2014 Nice! Once you start you can't stop! My man and I just blew 7K on a pair of standing speakers. Next up! Vinyl Player! I saw your speakers. Didn't audition them cos I was looking for small and discreet, but nothing beats the warmth and depth of one of those. And with your vinyls? Orgasmic! Are you getting the funky ones from plaza sing? Yes, the study is definitely the best location in your case. Furthermore, in the future, you may add network storage, routers, switches and other devices and these will be at this location.
