At first I also very headache finding a suitable Reno company that can suits my budget. Leave budget aside, I will like to speak the truth, overall over haul, hard to set a tight budget.I set mine at 30k initially, after all Doors Windows and Grilles plus the full Reno quotation, I pay nearly 40k excludes lights and appliances. Just for your reference........ My 2 cents worth
tanmeng 4 Report post Posted March 7, 2014 In fact, if you are on a tight budget, you should get a contractor to go down to take a look at the current house. There are some stuff that you can keep hopefully. Right now should be quite hard to get renovation loans according to my colleague.

From what I observe, a resale unit, the most is to retain the flooring. If the existing flooring suits you, you can just touch up and keep it, it will save a few thousands. ContractorPrice 7 Report post Posted March 10, 2014 Renovation is actually a very happy thing if you do it the right way. Don't be a cheapskates, get reasonable quotes and make sure no gimmicks or hidden cost. Make sure everything is spell out to you what you need to do and not tell you along the way and ask you to top up money.I met a few customers coming to me asking me to carry out their unfinished works as their ID or contractors went total MIA. They are asking for help desperately. Be smart and happy renovating..Tan ^_^

Some quotes 30 and you will see the different from a 60k quotation. But another note, Some quotation can be just 30, but some company over quoted it......... Very hard to tell unless job completes, that is why I did not mentioned my ID and the money I paid until Reno completes

If u are on a tight budget, set your budget first (of course), follow by what u wanna do then cut out the "want" and do the "need" first.
Tiler Seng 57 Report post Posted March 11, 2014 Finding a good responsive contractor is not difficult, finding a contractor that is able to match your budget is not difficult, in fact, choosing a contractor is much headache then the above two cause you will never know what will be next after you have confirmed contract with them. So, it's best to find someone who are trustable.
