The house is progressing nicely and based on picture the carpentry is quite well done.

Can give us a review of the Ceiling fan next time when you try ?

Putting up the cove lighting is not as simple as I thot n I hv learnt sth new!

There are many ways to do up ur cove lighting. The common ones are:

1) normal t5

2) led t5 (my choice)

3) led stripes

According to my electrician, the normal t5 gives the best outcome as the lights are very "soft" & "gentle"... which is the effect that cove lighting are supposed to give.

Led t5 are ultimately led, so it will give "hard" lines so the effect is not so gentle ... He has a hard time putting this comparison idea across to my hub so I asked hub to imagine it to be lyk star wars lightsaber (I can't believe myself tt I actually can udn him. Lol.)

Led stripes, again is led. So he say if u look closely, u will c dot dot dot dot kind of lighting instead of very smooth. But led stripes hv many colours ...

In the end, I still go against the electrician n choose led t5 because of this shadowless casing so the t5 tubings can be placed back to back .... If u use normal t5 u will hv this gap at the connection ... For the normal t5 I heard they solve this shadow issue by not aligning it in 1 straight row (1 front 1 back to overlap the connection part)

T2q4FhXnJOXXXXXXXX_!!1689926647.jpg_450x

n while browsing tru the photos posted by my neighbours in my BTO Facebook group... I can spot this "gap" in the cove lightings in some cases.

Another concern I have is the amt of heat generated from these t5 lights if it's not led. It's easily 10 tubes there. I don't want to be bbq when watching tv~ :jawdrop:

So i was scrutinising my living covelight photo sent to me by hub jus now, n quite pleased that the led t5 is really quite shadowless! :D

n well, not so star wars afterall.

Hi jus wanna check wit u.. Ours is a 3 room BTO n we r contemplating e exact 2 fans u installed... Only thing worrying my hubby is e overall size of e fans n if e wind circulation will be affected due to lack of distance space from end-of-blades to walls etc.. Also on wobbling issues tat some seemed to face wit kdk which has to be balanced well by official kdk installers who seem to be e ones who r able to rectify e prob.. How is e fan doing for u so far? E space u have seems to be quite substantial but wonder if it's any difference between e size of a 5 room's living/MBR n 3 room's living/MBR.. By e way we will be having LBox at both e area where e fans will come in,both living n MBR.. Wondering if e same sized fans will work for us as well.. U seem to have got a good deal for e fans... Did kdk guys install for u or normal electrician? Mind sharing contacts for where u bought ur fan pls? Thanks so much...

Hi Lyamani~ u may want to take the smaller fan if u r worried about the distance? i think the smallest kdk fan is 48".

Also on wobbling issues tat some seemed to face wit kdk which has to be balanced well by official kdk installers who seem to be e ones who r able to rectify e prob.. How is e fan doing for u so far?

yes, i do read abt the wobbling issues shared by fellow renotalk bloggers. i haven't done a full test, cause i didnt on to full speed (very dusty .. everything will fly ard). but based on just now, the MBR fan is fully installed & no wobbling was observed at medium speed. the living room fan is not fully mounted yet (will shake/swing around when u touch it). shall see how when reno is done.

E space u have seems to be quite substantial but wonder if it's any difference between e size of a 5 room's living/MBR n 3 room's living/MBR.. yes. my living room is much larger than urs. c my floor plan in 1st post. i don't have L-box in MBR. minus off my L-shaped wardrobe, my fan is in the middle of the remaining rectangle, which is quite huge still & therefore hv ample space for a 48" fan. my cut-out hole for the L-box in living room is very huge actually. i think it depends on how ur L-box design is as well. anyway u may check out the kdk faqs b4 purchasing?

Did kdk guys install for u or normal electrician?

my electrician installed them.

Mind sharing contacts for where u bought ur fan pls? Thanks so much...

the details are just above ur post actually ..... hope u have a smooth reno journey~ :)

i finally went to visit my house just now!!!

it was in complete mess when i was there. so many pple ard n every1 is talking to every1 ... i didn't expect ID to be ard at the point i went. luckily we went! there is some mistake in carpentry for our study table side and need our verification. i can't imagine if ID were to call and discuss this issue over the phone. anyway hope we have made the correct decision... shall wait n c the final product *pray hard* then this pool of pple left and the accessories guys (2 of them) came to install our miscs ... initally we used masking tape as a guideline where we wanted ... so luckily (again!) we where there, we could verified the exact locations to the installer :good:

and since we were there :notti:(haha kept repeating this statement) hub do a live measurement to c if the rainshower will hit his head. all of us were very worried that hub head will hit the rainshower as new BTO hav this beam thing to cover the pipings in toilet, which really lower the ceiling at our shower area by alot. HENG AR! still have about ~5cm or 10cm? :dunno: away from hub's head ... haha i think he wont feel the "rain" it will be just "shower from the top" ... i can enjoy the rain with my compromising height hehehe :D :D sometimes its not too bad to be short :X

after measuring the rainshower, we left the accessories installer to busy their own stuff ... so me n hub went to kitchen to play with our soft closing cabinets. n OMG 1 of the guy alr installed my service yard dual taps while the other was helping us with the rainshower .... so efficient!! :dribble:
