Grilles Or No Grilles

Dear renotalk forumers,

This was not on my mind until I met up with a supplier (couple) at their place which was on the 2nd floor and they had window grilles.

They shared with me how it is possible for a thief to climb into their home from certain area.

I'm living in the low floors as well. But is Singapore really that unsafe??!?

I do not like grilles as they make me feel 'imprisoned'.

Also, I do not have kids at home.

Should I or should I not install grilles? hmmm.....

What are your views?

How much will it cost me? Roughly?

There are always some group of people specially fly in to Singapore not to visit tourist spot but looking for unlock, unsafe unit.

Unit that easy, able to climb in and help out themselves on your stuff

You want nice view OR house break in (possible)

It is how you balance safety vs nicer view. If you do not want to install grille, you consider installing CCTV camera pointing to the window and other measures you have in mind to have some layers of security.

If you window is facing a good "public view", the risk is lessen. If its hidden, the risk is higher.

Just to add on to what bigmouse had said, money lost can be earned back. But what if the intruder decided to harm you or your family? Singapore is a relatively low crime country but low crime doesn't mean no crime.
