marcel 22 Report post Posted January 12, 2014 Hi Marcel. I just bought a 3NG, and will be collecting keys early Feb.I'm really looking forward to your reno, as many of my ideas are similar to yours. I'm just relieved I first get to see how some of these ideas turn out at your place.. (I hope you wouldn't mind feeling like a guinea pig.. lol..)1. My kitchen will be topless too, but looking at sleeker looking chimney hoods.2. HERF floor other than for kitchen. Having to re-irrigate sewage for sink, washing machine, and the basin, I think it may be just as cheap to hack and retile the kitchen (with a peace of mind).3. I have bought most of my furniture too, but not with any central theme coordinated. The small toilets are really a pain. I'm cracking my brains on how to make dry/wet segregation incorporating the wash basin inside.It's looking likely for me to relocate the entrance for the mbr toilet tho. I can't change the direction of the WC.2. If I can change the direction of the WC. It leaves me no space for a basin and glass shower screen. (I am over 1.8++)3. Having a basin out the bathroom is not possible.a. I wash my face like a duck in a pond.b. I don't want to sleep seeing my toothpaste and toothbrush.I guess I just have to live with wet bathroom for the rest of my life.PS: Please consider human factors and ergonomics when you plan your home. The good news it was not not tax by the custom!Now I am waiting for my aluminium tile trim.An ideal of my bathroom colour scheme. Cool grey floor (300 x 300) & porcelain white wall (300 x 600) with aluminium tile trim. Plus all my chrome faucets & bathroom accessories. Finish off with warm white lights. marcel 22 Report post Posted January 22, 2014 Due to the height constraint I realized most old HDB flat owners are forced to have L box with down lights. Lights (Money) all wasted on the walls creating shadows instead of illumining the space. Lucky mine is the top floor. Below is a good rule of thumb for all. This should allow you enough space for your shower area ...(*Just my 2 cents worth)Hi bros, pardon me, but i think expanding the toilet (wet area) i.e. hacking the original toilet wall & pushing it out into the MBR is definitely a no-no by HDB.. do check it out first.. ur ID/contractor should be able to advise..Most ppl i saw did their basin/vanity outside the toilet & builded an extra wall to screen this area instead. The flooring of this area is also often tiled up as washing at the basin will wet the floor (especially if the MBR is laminate flooring)Just sharing..
