Does Painting Comes First Or Last?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am getting my BTO flat soon. I like to ask a question. Let's assume the house will be seeing some activities..

-Renovate Kitchen

-False Ceiling whole house

-Painting of whole house

-TV Feature wall

When is the right time to do painting? Before or after the above activities?

The painter has to come more than one time. The last time he come will be doing touch-up. You may tell him what you are going to do, and the painter has to figure out which times he has to come in. IMO, he has to come in at least two to three times.

Painting is usually one of the last things to do, after tiling, false ceiling, electrical works but before carpentry (you don't want to accidentally paint over your kitchen cabinets!) and aircon units are up.

Like manwingyee said, the painter will still have to do some touch up after the first time painting.

Thanks for the reply. I also read in this forum and i got the important point that it should come before carpentry.

Generally, I heard the quote is around $1000-1500 for a 4-room flat with 5 colors. Does it mean I can request them to come 2-3 times and pay $1000-1500 total?

Think so. All these could be negotiated, but the painter should be coming more than once in general.
