Is it used or brand new? Can the covers be taken out for washing?

For those interested, this can be washed like plush toy.

Since the bigger pebbles may be hard to throw into a washing machine, just unpick and pull out the cotton stuffing to wash the cover. The stuffing cn easily be placed back in. But should be able to throw into machine.
