Help: Fitted Bed Sheet Bigger Than Mattress?

My single sized mattress is 6 inches thick, however the fitted bed sheet is 14 inches thick. So it is possible to squeeze in the extra bed sheet under the mattress? Or are there any other methods to solve this problem? Thanks

Try to do it like you've suggested, but usually it look messy......

I think that better idea will be to cut the elastic to make it shorter - then the sheet will be tighter (but make sure to not cut too much otherwise you will be not able to put the sheet on the mattress.

Other solution which I will suggest is to fold about 6 inches from the edge of the bed sheet and sew then all around the sheet. That will make that thickness will be 8 inches which is perfect for your mattress (2 inches extra will go under the mattress).
