Jillsounder 1 Report post Posted October 22, 2013 I engaged an ID, the initial quotation came up to be about 40k although I told him my budget was 20k. Halfway through the renovation, he billed me another 15k for other works not included in the initial invoice. Paid up about 50k already. The job looks "completed" but touch ups were not done. Custom built stool wasnt delivered. My custom built table was also constructed wrongly.I waited for 3 weeks after the renovation, but nothing more was not done. My floor is cement screeded, after just 2 weeks, crack lines which stretches across the floor area appeared. But before that he assured me that the cement uses a special chemical that won't crack. The cement screed is even more expensive than tiling! False ceiling also had cracks. Please advise if this is normal of ID and what can I do? Can I engage another contractor to finish up the works? pster 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2013 You may wish to explore your options with other contractors. No harm asking. Please also give an indication of who this ID is, so that some of us here can avoid using him...
RenoJoy 6 Report post Posted November 28, 2013 Reno is really a gamble.(I hate dealing with 'sales' people!)I just had a HOT discussion over the phone with my ID firm.Told them this is what I will do ... so I am doing it now.If you noticed, the T&C in the contract is 100% geared towards the ID firm.Nothing to protect us consumers. Was there any 'handover date' stated? Mine didn't. So now I am **** screwed. They can drag and drag and drag lorrr..So you people, please learn from my mistake. Insist on a handover date ... black and white. pster 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2013 Insist on a handover date ... black and white.--> Believe me, I tried asking, only 1 project manager was willing to do so. Everyone else just glossed over it with vague verbal answers. I agree with you that the T&C in the contract is 100% geared towards the ID firm!
