Recommended Posts

Project - HDB jumbo at the east

High COV = DIY style, meaning no budget for ID, no contractor

Tight timeline = very stress

With all of the above = Sincerely need everyone help and input!!!!!

Q1) This is a combine 3 rm unit, 34 years old, so one of the kitchen is mine MBR but the pro is the small washroom,

I ask a few contractor, jus wish to confirm with expert here, can the inner WC and the outer shower swap place? Meaning I wan the WC to be relocated to nearer the door once i enter. Possible?

Q2) For the kitchen, I ask the tiler to lay the cement and tiles so that the 1st level of kitchen cabinet is made of cement and tiles however he say tat HDB rules say max is need to need about 7 feet for wooden cabinet - meaning cannot stretch from head to end? true?

Q3) I know the hdb kitchen cannot build exhaust vent, but if anyone can PM me the legal way tat can go round the legal way and make it legal, will be good

Million of thanks to experts out there....pls input if u can and know the answers......

I'm having some trouble understanding u.

a) WC cannot change position. the sewage pipe position is fixed. Resale HDB cannot have concealed water pipes i think but otherwise u can change your shower mixer position.

b) dunno what u are asking

c) I don't think there is any legal way. Definitely no exhaust or ventilation duct or fan can be attached to the windows.

Can be done but subject to how and where you wanna change. Have to do wall mount toilet bowl, with a conceal flushing system and piping reconnect to the "outlet". Cost wise, in the Ks. So if budget is a concern, guess you will have to live with it.

I have been using ducting out for my kitchen exhaust for my last three homes, and it is excellent. I know that HDB does not allow you to knock a hole in the external wall or hang the ducting outlet out of the kitchen window, exhausting all your cooking fumes to your neighbours. But if you have a kitchen followed by a yard, can you simply hang your ducting outlet such that the exhaust is output to your yard, in the same way you would do for a portable air-con?

Just in case you are in a position to do this, note the following:

1. Must buy the duct out model of the cooker hood. Many makes have two models, one for circulation, one for ducting out. Typically, the duct out model does not have those filters.

2. Most kitchen contractors are not familiar with ducting out hoods. They do not know what to do. You have to supervise

3. Some models do not come with the ducting tube. You must buy separately.

4. Use aluminium tape for taping. Your contractor will likely use normal masking tape.

5. You have to buy the external exhaust grille yourself. If possible, get one that can open/close. I had that for my previous place, but for my current place, I was not able to find it. (Ok, for HDB, you definitely cannot do this. No hacking of holes in the walls, please. You just have to hang your duct to your yard (assuming this is allowed).

Sorry, I am not able to advise if this is HDB legal. But just giving you a design to consider.

Not that I know of. You may have to confirm with ID, they are in a better position to answer this.

Also, they are paid to give us such advice as well.

The ID I spoke to, offered this idea. The over all cost is very high in my opinion.

Wall mount WC, conceal flushing system, conceal build up for flushing system, redirect of piping etc.

Min looking at a few thousands.

We were established in 2017, we specialise in kitchen hood ducting system for residential in Singapore. We had also sought HDB consent and they had confirmed we DO NOT NEED their permission to build our ducting system. But we are to ensure that Charcoal(remove odour) and grease filtration of the output must be sufficiently done and certain area must also be taken into consideration to prevent causing any unhappiness to our neighbours.

We had summited our lab grease output to HDB, through our experiments. Conclusion: Using this system is far more effective than none as most grease that passed through filtration is trapped on the grease filter (97+ percent). Smell of Fume that passes through Charcoal filter (active carbon) will also significantly reduce as compare to using none.

We had also summited heath research reports done by very well established organisations that strongly suggests that inhaling cooking fume could lead to respiratory health issues like Lung Cancer, Asthma …ETC

Cooking with a hood that is ducted out is really the way, In Europe, US, China and so many countries to name were doing this but surprisingly we Singaporean are not! Most folks do not know we can use filtrations and of course “kia COMPLAINS”?

WE DESERVES a well ventilated kitchen!!

Attached are some of the works we had done so far and we have so far got 100% positive testimony and feedbacks by our customers using ducted out hoods system. Link to our FB page below and our contact number
