Happy Couple Decorates: A House, Not Yet A Home

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

This is Vi. I have been getting lots of advice from many past graduates and present members and so a big THANK YOU for all the help rendered so far :thumbs up:.

I have been procrastinating whether to start a t-blog. I am not any good in diy nor have creative or bold designs liked some of the members here.

But I love how great the community has been with sharing of ideals and lobangs and I would love to be part of this happy family. So here I am. Hubby is not into reading forum so mostly it shall mainly be me doing the write-up.

I do have a blog to register my thoughts and feelings as a BRIDEZILLA. And now it's time to dust the blog the cobwebs and record our renovation journey. If you do drop by, please say hello!

Family & friends have been asking us what is the theme of our place. We don’t have one per-se. We just want a simple decorated home that emits ‘home’ feeling.

We decided on wood paired with white for warmth & cozy feel. Guess the closest theme will be the very popular Scandinavian but we won’t be following it to a tee (we won’t be incorporating grey into the palette nor the fabric sofa). Likely to mix and match whatever we fancy. It might turn out to be a messy or as the chinese say “Cha Pa Lang 杂乱”!.

Ours won’t be a designer home (not engaging a ID) but it will be a home built based on our character & personality.

The Previous owners probably spent quite bit, going with the Zen look. We arranged for a few contractors to do on-site survey and almost all said it is 'so sayang' to hack because it is still in good condition. But it does not fit our theme and all these will have to go.

We will be meeting our fsm later at 9am for "ground breaking" ceremony and am too excited to sleep! Our fsm is a little different from others. All we need to prepare are 99 $1 coins. The coins will be left overnight and the Contractor & crew will start work on Thursday.

Praying for a smooth and enjoyable renovation! 8 weeks of adventure! Exciting!

Hi Vi!

Wonderful to finally see your t-blog!

And I'm inclined to agree with your friends and family - the existing condition looks great as it is. It's practically move in condition already.

To be honest, if my place looks like this now, we'll only be doing some minor reno and that's it hahahahahaha

As the quotation goes “You can change friends, but not neighbours”.

Our block is point-blocked meaning there are just 3 other units. Renovation starts tomorrow. To share our joy, we will be passing 2 jars of hand-baked peanut cookies and 1 B&J no sugar ice cream for my frd's mil (who has diabetics).

Am inclined to get a Bosch oven because it has this 3D hotair plus that sounds gd for a baker noob. Salesman at HV don't even bother to recommend other brands. But is it neccessary to top up for Eco-clean functions? hmm....I just liked the ideal as taken from their web "Grease and fat deposits are absorbed into the liners and are dispersed around the microscopic ceramic spheres". Hubby said will still have to clean the oven no matter what. Hmm.. Any advice?

Cheers!
