Plc 2-Pin Convert To E27 Led Lightbulbs

Recommended Posts

Hi,

my living room false ceiling got 8 downlights fitted with PLC 2-pin lightbulbs,

with another 2 above the area near the main gate.

These lightbulbs dun really last long,

I wish to change them all to normal E27 LED lightbulbs that I can get from IKEA

Is there something like a PLC 2-pin to E27 converter thingy that i can just buy, so that can use together with E27 LED lightbulbs?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

:)

I also did what you mentioned but I changed the entire lamp holder. The reason I changed all to E27 was to allow me the flexibility to change the bulb wattage and not worry about matching/changing the ballast to the wattage of the bulb as in the case of PLC. E27 fluorescent lamps have the ballast built into each lamp so you free to swap the lamps if you find them too bright or not bright enough.

Do note that even if you do find this adapter/converter, the correct way to install it would still be to remove the existing ballast from your PLC. The common practice of direct replacement for those tubes using converters has raise concerns over fire hazards.

In my opinion, the best/safer way is for you to replace the entire lamp holder to E27 type. This gives you the flexibility to have either E27 CFL or E27 LED and not worry about the ballast that is currently attached to your PLC
