Tv Flicker When On Off Electrical Switch

Not sure if any of you guys encounter this before.

Whenever I off my lights or certain electrical point when the TV is on, the tv will flicker off and then back on again.

I am wondering what could be causing it. Any idea?

At my parent's place which is 23 years old, when the ceiling fan is switch on while the TV is on, the screen will blink.

At my own place which is 13 years old, sometimes when the air-con cuts in, my TV (and sometimes the downlights) blink too. But that because my a/c compressor is due to be replace.

I believe it is due to a combination of the wirings being old and the electrical appliances, thus it draws more current.

Of course there is a possibility that the electrician has did the cable/wiring works 'way-out' of the standard practice.

If the TV just flicker without turning off/on, then most likely is due to electrical interference.

When u switch on an appliance, it might generate a magnetic/ electrical spike. This interferes with the signal cables.

Sometimes just merely moving or reorganising ur cables will solve the problems.
