A Cozyhome For Two+Two

Recommended Posts

I'm back again for a short while!
Teehee.

The busy aircon agent has finally installed our aircons today :dancingqueen: (finally!) so the reno works can continue..

ID mentioned that the plumbers will come in on Thurs and the false ceiling guys on Fri. Painting's next week after the false ceiling, and all the debris in our unit will be cleared for acid wash. Reno has been going really smooth so far. So happy. I don't know if we're just really easygoing people, but I do know that our ID is pretty awesome in his planning and time management. I actually think we're too slow for him, because of all our online purchases that take ages to arrive.

And here are some stuff we have shortlisted for our kitchen.

hood.jpg

Bosch Slim Line Hood DHI922GSG

hob.jpg

Electrolux Hob EGG7438CK

oven.jpg

Bosch Built in Oven HBN331E2J

dish.jpg

Bosch Dishwasher SMS50E82EU

We selected mainly the entry level stuff because I'm no wizard at cooking.. Hopefully with a new kitchen I can hone my kitchen skills to that of an expert level :notti:

We're getting everything from Goh Ah Bee. Surprisingly, everything is cheaper than I had expected it to be. Their items are very competitively priced after much comparison. The guy who has served us since day 1 is called Sam (we bug him relentlessly for prices, discounts though he doesn't budge with his prices because they're already very low to begin with). Very nice guy who knows his stuff and I'd definitely recommend him anytime.

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

Wow! I guess you must have ordered a lot of Taobao items! Just the first shipment and there's so many items listed. Hahaha...

Post more pics on your Taobao loots. :)

Hey Bengologist!

Yes, we (or rather, just me) went overboard with the shopping because everything is soooooo cheap! I've bought EVEN more since my last post that has not been shipped back yet. Think my SO is gonna go crazy with my home shopping craze (hahaha). But well, at least I'm laying off the shoes and clothes shopping for now :P

Please post your downlights led links.

Thanks

Hello drunkenchivas!

I got the LED downlights from this seller here. Just a note though... I haven't checked the lights (they're not installed yet). The seller is pretty fast in replying and delivery though, and everything looks good so far.

Yea more exposure of ur TB loots pls! :)

Hello juxstapose!

The house is way too dusty now for any form of phototaking :/ TB goodies are wrapped up in plastic amongst the reno warzone to prevent them from getting dirty.. Will share more when it's cleaned up!!

Been a while since we were here!

Some before pics to look back on in future.

Background of our home
It was tenanted for many years and the previous tenant did not maintain the place very well :(
balcony.jpg
Balcony
We bought it mainly because of this. The balcony!! Our dogs are gonna love it  Sadly, because of its huge size, it costs a flipping bomb to hack up the current flooring, redo the waterproofing etc. We'll prob redo it next time if we can't stand looking at it. As for the time being, we'll fill it up with pretty outdoor furniture, as well as look for a good cleaning company to acid wash the entire thing and remove the stains from the grout lines and such (contractor advised us to look for our own cleaning co, any recommendations??)

Living2.jpg

Living
We originally wanted to keep the marble flooring, for value and budget purposes, but it didn't fit into our theme no matter how we tried to work around it, so we decided to overlay it with laminate flooring.
We're also trying our best to peel away the blue film on the doors (pasted by the previous tenants) but to no avail. Anyone has recommendations on clear solar UV films that (hopefully) prevent heat from entering the house? We prob need professional help to peel the current film away too, it's uber stickyyy.
Trivia: We learnt from our contractor that overlaying marble flooring with tiles is a no-no, due to its porous nature.

Living1.jpg

Dining
Hacking away the wall with the window to create the open concept kitchen we always wanted. Can't hack the entire thing though, part of the wall is supposed to cover the back of the fridge, hopefully, it will not look too weird

welcome onboard...

congrats on your house..

what theme are you going for?

Continued.. Forum's driving me a lil insane by limiting the number of pics I can post! :angry2:
MasterBath.jpg
Bedrooms
All bedrooms look something like this, parquet flooring with built in wardrobes. The wardrobes will be hacked away - all of it! We'll polish/touch up the flooring. Hopefully, it'll look as good as new as some parts are pretty worn out/scratched.
MasterBath41.jpgMasterBath21.jpg
MasterBath31.jpg
Master Bath
The wall tiles are marble apparently (couldn't tell - too ugly!) and I. Hate. It. Feels like it's a waste to hack it all away but there's no way I'd keep the toilet looking like this!! The design's so uncool oldschool. Hahaha. After much consideration, we've decided to do away with the bathtub and replace it with a shower area. The current shower area will be replaced with an extended vanity top.
Trivia: Apparently it costs more to hack marble and granite. Certain contractors tried to quote us a 4 digit sum just to hack this one toilet alone. Whoa. No way.
Okay. That's all the updates I have for now. Hoping for a smooth, smooth reno
Xx

Yay, our tiling is completed. Actually it was completed a week ago. We were lazy to update. Hehe

Common Bath's

MBRBath.jpg

Master Bath's.

Prefer the colour scheme of the common bath's. Hopefully some orangey downlights can enhance the greyish tone.

They made the kerb for shower area and decided on the alignment of the tiles without us asking for it. So awesome since we're total newbies.

They also extended the bathroom tiles out to the MBR slightly so that the parquet flooring will not be damaged by water.

Really appreciate these tiny things they do that us laymen will not have any idea about.

The kitchen is also tiled up now but currently protected with canvas sheets... no pics.

TB.jpg

Like everyone else, we're trapped into the world of Taobao. Hahaha.

Our first shipment arrived, a massive order of LED downlights, pendant lamps, basins, doggy items (ahahhaha), chairs and rugs.

Also realized their so called wooden crate packaging isn't really useful, it's the styrofoam that protects the stuff during shipment.

Our reno has also come to a standstill because we're pending the opennet installation, it has to be done before the false ceiling.

Electrical wirings have also already been carried out.

Countdown..

We're left with false ceiling, painting, carpentry and lights/sanitary installation.

Carpenter will take measurements once false ceiling is up! Yay!!

smart move to get your LEDs from taobao!!

Tiny update!

We went to the PC Show at Expo to check out some TV deals but nothing was enticing.. We only ended up getting the Starhub fibre&tv bundle.

& simply because we were annoyed with the small selection of TVs at the PC show, we headed to Mega Discount Store to source for more deals. Then, we found this pretty thing

tv.jpg

LG 55LM6700

They were giving a bunch of freebies too, like a BluRay player, some kinda magic remote, 3D glasses etc. Another item off our to-buy list checked. :good:

Hello people!

I've been a silent stalker in this forum learning all about renovation, and now that reno for our place is about to start (for real..), we've decided to join in the fun and share!

Here's our floor plan. Our place has a huge balcony that we love, we bought it mainly for that reason. It'll also be a great play area for our 2 dogs too  Everything else is small though, like the kitchen, and the bathrooms...

layout.jpg

Hacking begins sometime this week. Whoop. Onward we go! :dribble: Will share more about our ID selection soon.

Xx

J

Oh my, super love the size of your balcony!!!
