MrMerry - So far I've paid for the furniture and shipping from Bali to Singapore port. Still hafta pay for Singapore port charges and to move from Singapore port to my place (that one i have lobang) Will pm you about the cost!

Redder - I think I went to Sunset Road in Seminyak area. There're quite alot of teak and wood furniture shops around there, though some are quite spaced out. But I bought my table and chair from Lio Design, which is next to another interesting recycled teak shop called Magic Fish. That stretch of road has quite abit of furniture shops, including rattan baskets, small decor items, etc. Though I think you need to bargain hard for the things you want. They are open to polite bargaining generally.. but you hafta be firm.

Bengologist - Thank you ! I love the nostalgic feel precisely. There was a prettier new teak table there, very smooth and beautiful also, and I was trying to decide between the two, but all my friends with me said the recycled teak one was better.

Hey mishmish! Im planning to go to bali to shop for my new plc too but nt sure which part of bali to go to.. Any suggestions? :)

HI Redder

you may want to check out the strerch of shops/workshops about 10-15 minutes away from Ubud city center. Ubud is a charming town well known for its arts and craft, paddi field, food and yoga ! I spent a month in Ubud two years ago for yoga mainly and revisted twice past one year. During my stay there I get to know a very friendly and capable indonesian woman who owns a workshop making leather belts and accesories she and her german husband designed and made in their workshop in Ubud. She also owned a cool hair salon in Ubud which I hang out almost daily. The furnitures in the salon are designed by her and custom made by a workshop in Ubud using recycled wood from old junk boat,

I bought a 2m long painting and get it framed through her contact at 1/3 of the cost here, and paid a name card maker to handmake three sets of refil for a small organiser I bought from Mandarina Duck in Florence for s$5-6!

Phew, I've been away for ages... Been so busy with work and stuff. Progress in the house isnt alot, and I doubt its gonna be completed by end of this month. Most things have arrived. My tables and chairs from Bali (shipping was a nightmare), walk in wardrobe poles and all, everything is sitting around. My ID told me carpentry will start either today or wednesdsay. So I'm hopeful things will start moving again.

On to happier topics.. My ID came back from his new york trip and bought us small gifts.

I dunno where we're gonna put the old lightbulb yet, it apparently still works. Very sweet of our ID to buy our initials and tell us where to put it. LOL

Master bathroom lava stone tiles have been put up, but there're still tiles I want replaced because of the uneveness. Applying a few coats of sealants does help to make them all more even.

After sealant

I love sealant. But still alot of work to be done. I wanted mitre cutting for the edge of the tiles, but because lava stone is quite fragile, the ID changed to bird cage tiling instead for the edges. I dont know whats the difference but it looks seamless enough, so i'm quite pleased.

A nice update after a long hiatus. I actually thought your reno completed and you moved in already!

noooo.. sadly not. But the only good thing is, we're not in a hurry to move in, rather things be perfect than be rushed. Partly the delay is our fault, because we took quite a while to decide some things. hehe..

Aircons are up...

98C8D55F-4EEB-4DA3-BD06-1B2FE7E3AFFD-345

Thats the huge one in the living room.. think its 26 BTU... cuz it has to cool down my living room and open concept kitchen all at once. Its situated above my island kitchen top and facing the back of my sofa. Haven't tried it yet because the house isnt completed. But hope its all good.

DAEFA482-2C83-43D0-A645-AB5B7E092F4E-345

walk in wardrobe aircon... looking at it, i wish we could have gotten the cool black screened ones.. (think it was samsung or lg) it would look so much nicer against the cement screed walls. But the black screened ones didn't have 26 BTU or even 24 BTU. So we just chose to stick with one brand. :(

8559B642-8B38-4525-A753-B14473825981-345

That's the aircon facing the master bedroom. Its right above the wardrobe partition between the master bathroom and the bedroom (not up yet obviously)

I know it looks abit dark, but some wires are connected and looks exposed. I wonder if its normal. Am worried.

Mattress has been purchased.. I got a Serta mattress on sale at IMM. Its the anniversary edition and was 1119 bucks I think. Also ordered the bed frame to be made.

Something like the above, except the headboard will be abit higher and the mattress thicker. Also the sides will not have frames because there's no space. :(

Chose the grey fabric (next to the red one). Hope it turns out well.
