StaleBread 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2013 (edited) It took alot of procastinating but I finally got off my behind and start a T-blog to document down our journeyFirst off, the following1) Our layout2) Our place is a new 3BR condo and these are what we think we need- False Ceiling for Living / Dining room / Master bedroom, so that we can install ceiling fans in the living room and master bedroom- TV console and a feature wall- Simple Shelvings in the common bedrooms- To convert the 3rd (small) toilet in the kitchen into a powder room - New L-shaped sofa, because the orientation of our L-shaped sofa (which we were very fond of) is not compatible with the new place (we have not told the sofa yet).- New fridge and Washing machine (cos our old ones are not making us happy)3) Our problem- This is a sub sale, so we have not even seen the showflat and have no idea how the finishes look like. And we are still waiting for the key.- Based on the layout, we may not be able to find a place to hang laundry- We are still waiting for the key TOP TOP to be applied. StaleBread 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2013 (edited) For washer, we decided to go withLG Front Load Washer (8.5kg) (Got it from mega discount store S$1188)WD1488TDS5Front load because- its more water efficient- it is more gentle on the clothes- we have heard alot of good things but never tried a front loadLG 8.5kg because- we need (at least) that capacity (of 8kg)- it has max spin speed of 1400 RPM- it is quiet (or claim to be, due to its Direct drive motor)- we heard that this model was manufactured in Korea- we like that the door handle is not a spring loaded separate part, that makes opening easier, but seem very breakableA close second is the Panasonic NA-148VG3WSG Edited April 9, 2013 by StaleBread Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

StaleBread 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2013 (edited) For the fridge, we are gettingMitsubishi 3 Door Fridge MRC46C (406L) (Got it from mega discount store S$1050)Because- we need more capacity then our current Samsung RT30 (253L)- we like bottom freezer because it is more energy efficient (and it looks prettier)- Unlike other brands, Mitsubishi have its individual air vault for different compartment- I want the fridge to come with auto ice making function and liked Mitsubishi's betterI don't like that it has a 3 tick energy efficiency (as compared to 4 tick recieved by Hitachi).Sales person says the award was a projected figure, but Mitsubish is more energy saving because its inverter motor only consume energy when it need toI don't understand that, and is taking that with a pinch of salt. StaleBread 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2013 We are using "Sweet Home 3D" for the planning of our furniture placementI find it easier to use (then other alternative that I tried)You can even try the online version first to see if it takes, before installing the desktop one (which is a must)3D models (of furniture) are not as easy to find though.I found most of what I was looking for in Google's 3D Warehouse but a lot of the models only compatible with Google Sketchup (which did not click that well with me)This is what we have so far Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
