Reasonable Quotation?

Hello everyone, I had sent my request for a quotation via renotalk recently, and has arranged to meetup with some renovators.

Due to budget constrain, I've decided to only do some minor renovation for now and postpone the rest.

This is the quotation I've received, it is definitely within my budget, however I wonder if the quote is reasonable?

-Painting for whole unit - $1,800

-False Ceiling for living area – $1,000

-TV Console 12 ft - $1,800

-TV Feature Wall, full height 12ft - $3,360

Estimated Total: $7,960

let me give u some ideas.

urs is how many room? cos different room charge at higher price. to be exact, $1800 painting for 4 rm is very ex.

false ceiling. again, need to see how big is ur living room.

tv console. 12 ft $1.8k = $150. is it suspended or got legs type?

tv feature wall is $280 per ft. full height with any glass or mirror? if its without mirror theme, its on the high side.

If you know what you are looking for or the type of cabinet you want? why not go for a contractor ...I think it would be cheaper.

My EA the painting cost is lower than yours. It also depends on the type of paint they will be using.

I urge you to get some other quotations.

The painting of my EM and doors (as we did not change some of them since they are very sturdy and in good condition) is $2,200.

1. How many layers of paint?
2. Brand of paint use?

You didnt state is yours 4-room, 5-room unit?

I reckon $2000-2200 for painting whole EM/EA is quite normal now.

Hi! Thank you brothers & sisters for the kind advices! Mine is a 5 rooms flat, and my ID agreed to reduce the painting price to $1600! Should I buy paint and then paint the house with my hubs instead? But I scared very ugly leh, hahahahahhaha.

Hey! HAHA dont try painting on your own! I just did mine on my own (only living area and the ceiling), I almost died! Its way too tedious.

I can recommend you an id though if you need one still. Based on your price above for the feature wall is rather expensive but have to know the design as well (if its complicated with like open storage then this price is rather reasonable due to the laminates that would be use).

I got my house 5rm painted for $1600 with nippon all in one paint Ya trexis is right depending how complicated is the design. For the feature wall. I got my done at about $200 per foot run and suspended console at $125.

Can u give me the contact of the painting service u hired? That is reasonable. Does the price comes in a package - 1 coat of sealer, 2 coats of paints? How many colours in total?

I am also still considering to buy our own paint and paints the whole unit ourselves, but very shiong leh....
