curry5433 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2013 Hi People,I will like to share this with all of you, especially if you are frequent visitors to the departmental stores for electronics goods.Recently I am looking for a Hitachi Fridge for my new place and I did some home work on the neighbourhood retail shops. The price are pretty good but they do not have the display model that I am looking for, thus I visited the departmental store to view the product and the same time check out for any promotion.As usual, the price that is shown in the departmental stores is much higher, as compare to the retail shop. I asked in regards about the reason why are their prices so much higher, and shown the sales person my home work.To my surprise, he told me that the prices are different is mainly because the retail stores are selling reject products, resulting in drastic difference in price (certain model). I told them that the retail shops are also providing certified warranty and furthermore, some of the products are send directly by the company, such as Samsung, Hitachi... etc. But he told me that indeed it was sent directly by the main company, however the products sold to the retail stores are rejected products, thus allowing them to sell at a cheaper price.His words has caused great impression to my wife and she is not willing to purchase the fridge at a cheaper price from the retail shops, despite the price differences. Not totally believing in the sales person story, I decided to call up the call center and ask directly and not surprising, the CSO told me that it is impossible for the retails shops to sell rejected products, as their company never release these products to the market.I seriously doubt the integrity of the sales person of the departmental stores who told my wife and me all those craps, just to sell their products and earn their commission. Especially it affect my wife so much, that I have to spend some time to explain to her.Thus people, if you are purchasing products and is told the same story as what I have heard, please ignore them and do not buy from them. spikedoll 2 Report post Posted March 26, 2013 Thanks for sharing. So far the items that I bought from neighborhood retail shops served me well.. So far ok no issue.. (Touch wood!) Except the hitachi fridge which I bought 5 years ago got some problem during the first month but hitachi had changed a new set for me. No problem after that. Courts said will match the price if you happen to find one lower than them? I am also wondering should i go to neighbourhood retail and match price.. So where do you guys purchase yours? therat 18 Report post Posted March 27, 2013 can you share with us, which department store, which outlet sale person is doing this.I bought all my electrical appliances - 2 TVs, washing machine, fridge, hob and hood from neighbor store. The price is reasonable and the deliverable time is flex.However, I think some shops they group together to get a group purchase from the appliances company. That's why they can give some discount.Why I get this impression.B'coz when I tried to do online registration for my warranty, it shown the shop name is another shop name. After a few days found out that Mustaxx and Tangx sell at a much lower price... I called the Courxx and the price match WAS REJECTED.Take note everyone!!
