Is backing absolutely necessary for kitchen cabinet?

Can I do a kitchen cabinet with only painted walls (no tiles) as backing?

Can, but wouldn't recommend it if you cook.

If you don't do much cooking, probably doesn't make much of a practical difference.

The main purpose of kitchen backsplashes is to provide an easy-to-clean surface so that messes or splashes such as spattering cooking oil won't mark painted walls or wall paper.

Thks for your fast response.

I know boiling soups or any cooking without oil shouldn't be too much of a problem.

But how about stir-fry veggies or cooking an omelette? I will be installing a kitchen hood.

It will be good if anyone who has done it before can tell me of your experience or show me some photos.

if you don't want to put tiles, may be you can buy a U-shape folder.. i'm don't know what is the actual name for it.

You can find in NTUC or any ABC shop..

like silver aluminum that place surround the hood.
