artblakey 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2013 (edited) Can I do a kitchen cabinet with only painted walls (no tiles) as backing? Can, but wouldn't recommend it if you cook.If you don't do much cooking, probably doesn't make much of a practical difference. The main purpose of kitchen backsplashes is to provide an easy-to-clean surface so that messes or splashes such as spattering cooking oil won't mark painted walls or wall paper. http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-backsplash.htmThe backsplash's functional purpose is to protect the wall behind the stove from splashes of food, grease spatters, smoke and other stains that can occur in the course of cooking. http://www.ehow.com/about_4672639_kitchen-backsplashes.html Edited March 20, 2013 by artblakey
srgnrt 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2013 (edited) Thks for your fast response.I know boiling soups or any cooking without oil shouldn't be too much of a problem. But how about stir-fry veggies or cooking an omelette? I will be installing a kitchen hood.It will be good if anyone who has done it before can tell me of your experience or show me some photos.Thks. therat 18 Report post Posted March 20, 2013 if you don't want to put tiles, may be you can buy a U-shape folder.. i'm don't know what is the actual name for it.You can find in NTUC or any ABC shop..like silver aluminum that place surround the hood.
