We also took quite awhile choosing laminates.. Ya we had hard time visualize from the small sample chip. In the end our ID passed us the bigger size sample.

I think my laminates quite boring ... Lol

You are too modest!

Actually, when I relooked at all the laminates and tiles we have selected, all of them are pretty simple and not too 'loud'.

MBR bathroom - only 1/3 of a side of the wall is tiled red roses, rest of the wall tiles are white

2 common bathrooms - only 1 side of the wall is red tiles, rest are white

kitchen cabinets - only top part will be rose laminates, rest are plain burgundy gloss finished

shoes cabinet - faint floral on black laminate

daughter's wardrobe - faint yellow floral on white laminate

Do you think it's too much 'flowers'?

*Most of the laminates we had chosen in the preliminary round have been removed and re-selected*

Roofing is completed. These are some images taken (in the service yard) by my spouse but he is unable to take pictures of the roof from the MBR because the stairs have not been reconstructed!

Oh, really? We didn't refer to any EMs layout as references, we just adopt the 'go with the flow' mentality and our lifestyle & preferences to choose the stuff we want. Every 2 weeks, my spouse fly out on business trip and as a result it delays the whole renovation process because the contractor can't get him to decide on the laminates!

The renovation now is 50% done, hence, last week, I took the effort to go down to the office of EDL and make the husband to make a decision on the selected laminates so that the contractor can get those stuff ready.

I did not compare prices but was quoted $4500 for building the roof.

Contractor updated the husband that windows will be installed tomorrow. Not sure why take them so long to even lay the structure of the staircase. I am so tempted to ask but didn't want the workers to think that we are rushing them and they do a shoddy job :(

I dislike cove light, as I believe that over the years, dust/dirt, dead bodies of cockroaches, sh*t of lizards/cockroaches will be accumulated and I dread the sight and have to clear off these stuff up there. Now I have a maid but on long run, I do not intend to keep her forever and I will be the person doing the housekeeping myself. Aesthetically it is a good but practically it does not work for me. We will have false ceiling; to hide wires.

Emm....maybe. But the upper floor works have been on-hold for weeks. Tiles in both bathrooms are 70% done only. The cabinet outside the common toilet and the parquet floor have zero progress.

The group of workers are really slow but their workmanship so far so good. My contractor told me that he picked 2 top tilers to lay the tiles in my flat and their pay is high as they are considered as 'top' grade tiler.....something like that.

Contractor told husband that the handover date of the flat will be delayed until early April as there is a shortage of good craftmen in this industry. There is a slight disappointment but am not surprised as I do anticipate the delay......bugger!

I read somewhere in RT that there are shortage of good skilled workers. If you are not in hurry to move in then ok. Ya better dont rush most importantly is the workmanship is good

spikedoll, we have a rented place to stay but thought if we can move in this month, we will not have to pay the extra rent but it's really not many choices eh!

Going to inspect the unit after office hour as husband was told that the stairs will be ready by today and the windows suppose to be up too.

If the unit is bright enough to allow us to take some pictures, I will try to upload some new images.

I arrived at the flat slightly before 6pm and the worker is just installing the windows, by the rate he works, the grilles will not be up even if we were to stay longer. Only took pictures of installed windows in the Study room and Living area.

The husband like BLUE windows (with white frame), so it will be installed in the Living area, Service Yard and the 3 bedrooms.

Living area (4 panels)

Study's and Dining area. Husband chose double-sided glass/opaque to reduce some noise and have privacy. As you can see from the image below, once the windows are closed, you literally can't see what happens outside and vice versa.

Stairs

As you can see, the 1st flight of stairs is moved to the right-hand side which is away from the original position of leaning against the wall on the left.

stairs3k.jpg

By relocating the 1st flight of the stairs it breaks the eyeline sight between the entrance and the living area. And this create slightly more space to the dining area.

A glass panel will be built here to separate the kitchen and living area. The sink will be placed in front of the glass panel in the yard.
