Good luck with your reno. Who is your ID? How did u choose him/her?

I am also looking for ID/contractor to start reno for my place as well.

how to check for defects?

within 7 days, we need to report to hdb..

i feel more important to check for serious defects. eg. leakages, uneven tiles, drainage.

my ID gave me good advice when he came to do site measurement. you should ask your ID as well. they are the experts.

I am also looking for ID/contractor to start reno for my place as well.

basically we were in dilemma when choosing between contractor n id. we had some rough ideas but nor sure abt d color matchings. so we finally look for id.

first of all, i feel d id must know exactly wat i want. some ids maybe r v experienced, but often they r too engrossed in their own designs, forgot to listen to my needs. we met 4 ids and 2 contractors. all have diff opinions of layout. e.g. when i told them i want to hack my kitchen walls to shrink d kitchen size, so is to make my living/dining area look bigger. one of d id insisted my kitchen is too small, and suggested to put d frigde outside of d kitchen, which is next to d shoe cabinet..-.-.. for sure we dint choose him.. so make sure ur id and u have d same frequency, and understand ur needs n want.

secondly, d price. if d quotation is within ur budget, and u think their service is worth dat much. after comparing, i feel d price is more or less abt d same if u r consistent for d choice of materials.

lastly, d terms n conditions of d contract. after reading d forums, i realized it is v common to have delays for renovation. to prevent tis, i asked d company to add on one additional clause, to state d compensation if any delays. one id firm says can onli claim up to 1k compensation, $300/day. i feel it shouldnt b capped. wat if they delay for 1 month? so i feel dat particular id firm is nt very confident for d punctuality of handing over.

again, it depends on d personal preference. hope it helps.:)

%7Boption%7Dhttp://imageshack.us/scaled/large/820/img9562ht.jpg[/image] Tis is my common bathroom toilet.. It has one partition in between toilet n shower areas.. Anyone knows izzit easy to remove d partition if we want to change to tampered glass?

it is easy to do it. your ID should be able to do it. they just need to install U-channel to hold the glass. my cousin just did something similar for his shower area.

my id insisted removing d partition will damage d wall n floor tiles..they say d partition is sitting inside d tiles.. and say it will affect d water proofing membrane when removing it.. so it needs a major work in d toilet.. do u haf any idea how did d contractor dismantle d partition of ur cousin house? does it damage d wall n floor tiles?.. thank u !!

im actually very confused by gaincity aircon contractor. he claims tis is the best trunking he could do in my mbr.

what i see is extremely ugly bulky aircon trunking. if they could run the pipings above the window, at least the trunking can be boxed up. but mine is happening in d middle of nowhere!

what can i do to camouflage this? i need ideas!

It does look out of place. Are you planning to build any cabinet there? It would help to camouflage. Curtains for the window? That would help a bit too!
