Taobao Help Needed

Recommended Posts

Hi greg, I'm eyeing these, haven't seen them in SG before

Wow, nice pieces you found.

Since they are cupboard furniture, I doubt that there will be too much quality issues, unlike fabric sofa, or faucets with variable mechanical parts.

Considering the price difference with carpentry, may be worth to pull the trigger.

I don't know about that...I read in the forum once someone ordered a chair with a wooden seat and the grains turned out to be much different than the picture. :/

These look fab i must admit...but I think it is a bit dangerous seeing it is quite costly for one piece. I have purchased loads from taobao. From lights to furniture. It is really touch and go. I bought a pair of barstools, and they werent cheap. One came BROKEN! I used Amcon as the shipper. Luckily my great carpenter contact can fix it. Thank goodness it is the only item from taobao that has come back disappointing. Everything else has been two thumbs up. Purchase with the mindset that it could be CRAPPY. That way you will be pleasantly surprised.

Oh I was thinking of using Amcon too. I really like them but even the cheapest at 600+ is still a lot. If it comes broken or damaged and is irrepairable, that's money down the drain. :S

They all look nice! No wonder so tempting heh

I would not consider this one

http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.3.w4002-2604958537.47.T39cZM&id=14646526433

because not many pictures. Also it's black/white all round. To me, it will look quite ordinary in real life.

This one

http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.3.w4011-4073202130.215.Il7dol&id=14971831549&rn=514a0e40a6510577ba02b9a55b34c7ba

I would risk because it's really very ex for a taobao purchase. It's really really nice though.

This one

http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.0.0.qhP7ty&id=16969487699

is least risky to me because of price, and amount of wood grain exposed - not so much.

you are right about the variation in the wood grains - June experienced this first hand and it can be quite horrifying.

the plus side about this one is that if let's say it is a bit damaged - because it's a vintagey sort of piece, easier to make the damage as part of the "distress" look

I was thinking of the last one too because of the price. I'm intending to use it as a shoe cabinet. I'm also eyeing other big items from this seller.

Hi,

Anyone shipping back stuff using amcon?

I bought a 260 pieces of luggage tag during my trip to Guangzhou. Planning to use them as my wedding favor.

However the shop couldn't get the stock ready for me to bring back, no choice had to ship back using amcon. But the items are too small to make up 1cbm. Its only about 0.1cbm. Can I tag along anyone's shipment if you are goin to ship back using amcon soon?

Please let me know. Thank you.

Hi,

This forum is so insightful, it's great!

I am furnishing my new home and would like to purchase bulky items (i.e. dining chairs, arm chairs, lights fixtures, headboard etc) from Taobao.

But I live in Aus. Anyone has experience in shipping to Melb? How much did it cost?

I need all the help I can get, thanks everyone!!

Hi all,

I'm planning to ship these ceiling lights for my whole 4-rooms unit; living room, kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms. Any comments? Just get to know that TB offers 'direct' shipping to SG now, wonder will it costs a bomb or cheaper than using daigou? Any one has experience with these TB's forwarders? Will they deliver to your doorstep?

My own experience from clicking around and trying to gauge the shipping costs when buying direct from taobao

For large vol, heavy items, seems like it is more expensive than using an agent

Has anyone tried to buy large items directly from taobao without an agent?

I see! Good to know.

Looks like third party agents still have business. For now.

Taobao direct shipping to Singapore is using air cargo that why is more ex.
