RenoJoe 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2013 Hi all, I just got the keys to my house and am starting to shop around for a good contractor.I got a quote from a contractor that I kinda like, but I feel the quote is a little ex. Wanted the forum opinion.Laying of tiles for living area and bedroom, 500sqft for $5000 which is inclusive of tiles, labour and transport. Tiles alone only cost $2.50psf. Is this too much for labour + transport?10mm clear tempered glass shower screen in toilet (no door, just a kerb for doorway), $600. It's just a piece of glass, no sliding door or anything of the sort. Too ex?25ft of kitchen cabinet in laminate finish, $5000. That's $200 per foot run. Too ex?20ft of quartz kitchen worktop, $2400. That's $120 per foot run. Too ex?There's more to list which I find questionable, but that's all I have right now... Appreciate all input!

Appreciate all input!Hi Joe, Personally, I think for homo tiles, including sand, cement, tiles, labour, etc, pretty reasonable. Bt just verify with your ID that's its all inclusive already. As for tempered glass shower screen, seems abit exp, when its pretty straightforward installation. It might be cheaper if u have a few glassworks to install, cos understand that the contractor would charge a lump sum rather than PSF prices if the amount of work is minimal, to cover their labour and transport costs. The kitchen cabinet is top and bottom hung? Of just bottom hung? Tall units inclusive? What type of hinges? What type of internal fittings? And for quartz, prices about right, but if you are looking for functional kitchen, dun think its a good idea, cos being natural stone, it's porous, stains would be a nightmare if you dun clean it immediately...Just my tots, I might be outdated....
