Vinyl (Resilient) Flooring Or Parquet Flooring?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I can't decide which to use.

Anyone can advise?

I like Vinyl because 1) Cheaper 2) Waterproof 3) Easy to maintain.

However I am not sure about how it feels when I step on it.

Will there be creaking sound or feel hollow?

Will it feel close to parquet?

Appreciate any advice.

Thank you in advance! :sport-smiley-018:

You will not have any creaking, but squishing sound when water gets in :sport-smiley-004:

You will realize that it is not so cheap when the family health bills starts building up from inhaling the poisons day in day out from this dirty material.

Hi MKV,

I got mine from JPL Flooring. As I wanted a Scandinavian look for my home, a wooden-looking floor is a must-have. Between laminated floorboard and vinyl floor, I must say the choice is clear. I needed a surface that doesn't make the "clicking" sound when my dog's nails hit the floor. And having read some bad reviews about the "bloating effect" laminated floorboard has, I needed a 100% waterproof flooring. After scouting around for some time, many flooring companies has limited selections for their vinyl range and the wood looks a little artificial. I did find a popular vinyl flooring company who has the click-system and their vinyl tile is the thickest I've seen. However, the price was steep and costs almost the same to lay homogenous tiles :(

I finally came across JPL flooring, who had the perfect colour and design I wanted. Their service was really good, and accomodated well to my renovation schedule. As they are big on commercial projects, they are not very well-known in the residential market. The price is also relatively cheap, and I got a better deal from doing the whole house living/dining/bedrooms. The only hesitation that I had was the thickness of the vinyl, about 2.5mm. But Amos increased the top wear-layer for me (yes! they have their own factory), and the problem is solved. I highly recommend Amos (hp: 96931320) from JPL Floor to anyone looking for vinyl tile for their home.

If you are looking for a more minimalist look flooring, the vinyl roll type is also a great choice, as the effect is seamless, compared to the common 60cm x 60cm homogenous tile, where there is grouting between all the tiles. Even better if you want a very white effect, as it seems that homogenouse tiles are never available in clean-white. They are always a light shade of cream colour.

I sure am advertising here for them, as I am truly happy with the overall result.

Thanks for the review.

Appreciate it!
