tkcltoh 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2013 Hi, I would like to install wallpaper over an existing false wall with laminate but the wallpaper installer told me is not possible to do so as wallpaper will not stick.I had google from the website and it seems like this is possible.Anyone did that before and can give me some advise? My renovation is near to completion but is facing this issue as the colour of the laminate does not match my house anymore.ThanksToh
Batman 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2013 I'd say it is more of the adhesion is not as good as compare to wall surface. Reason being that wall paper is being glued on. So laminate's surface being 'smooth' to a certain extent, will cause peeling after sometime.Alternatively u can consider wall mural aka stickers. At least it's a sticky adhesive n chances of peeling will be lower. But still possible to peel off after a short while. How short? I also cannot estimate.Good luck To
tkcltoh 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2013 How much does it cost for an estimated 4x3m wallpaper to glue this. Do you need to do survey for quotation ?Add a 3 mm MDF board over the laminate as best solution which provide flat good adhesion surface for long term substrate for your wall paper. Big or small job, we can help if not too busy. If you remove the laminate, there would be glue reside that is hard to remove.
