I have been reading the various entries in Renotalk. Have picked up a few tips and advice from here. Would like to share my experience on his forum, so that others can also benefit from my experience.

Started the ID seach process in Sept. Aim was to start by third week of November and finish before school starts in 2013.

Since I am renovating the place I am living in, I had to find a storage place and mover who would handle my earthly belongings safely. After some search found a mover. They were pricey, but did a very decent job of packing and moving the stuff. I hope they do it equally well when they deliver back my all my furniture.

Hacking started on time. I will reserve my comments on my ID now.

It has been a week since work has started. Hacking has finished, but the ID hasn't come up with the perspective drawing yet!!. I am not sure of the sequence of events. I have a tight timeline. Hope the project is finishes in time.

My ID, was patient and changed the quote 4/5 times as we asked for changes, BUT!! he gave some package prices. As we asked him to remove some of the stuff from the package, he kept removing the items but his price remained more or less the same!!

Wish there were some standard reference in Singapore. So that I knew how much I am paying for what.

I thought his quote for shoe cabinet was very high. Anyone can share what is the quote for a simple 5 foot(length) half height custom made shoe cabinet?

600 onwards, depend on the material use.

yeap also depend if you need to have white internal or colour internal..prices varies...

i have quotes ranging up till 800 plus as mine is appx 6.5 feet..

i did mine full height polycan finish at 900 about 6 foot ,closer is the release and auto close kind..laminate should be cheaper

the carpentry works are charged by length regardless of height.This is a painful lesson I gained from my reno experience. If possible, try to minimalise add ons and source for contractor to do instead of an ID cos their charges are usually higher.
