Genova Industries Pte Ltd Unfair Business Practice

Recommended Posts

I went to Genova show room in Bendemeer Road on 11th Nov 2012 to purchase 2 sets of 707 Protek instant heaters and some water taps. After paying for the purchased, the sales staff told me that they do not have the stock on hand and have promised me to call me when the stock has arrived.

After 3 weeks, one staff from the company called me and told me that the product is no longer available and they could not supply me this product. Since I have been sourcing around for this product and this is not an old product. I told them that it is not possible that the product is no available in the market anymore since there are other shops that are still selling this product. The sales staff later admitted that they could not sell me the Protek instant heaters as the price they sold to me is too low ($180 for each unit), they will need to bring in at least 30 sets in order to make some profits. However, they do not foresee that they are able to sell so many pieces of this product. Hence they are not able to supply me the instant heater.

They wanted me to change to other brands but since I do not trust other brands, I have insisted on the brand and model that I have paid for. Eventually they have decided to cancel the order and return me the money.

I see that this is an unfair business practice. If I placed a deposit to them for goods and later found that the price I paid is too high, the company will not return me the deposit I have paid and cancelled the order. They will forfeit my deposit for this case.

So, how can Genova cancel my order after I have already paid for because they are not able to make enough profit for this sale.

This will be the last time I purchase anything from Genova.
