Hi I've thought about this problem, and i got this feeling that the "ball" can be detached from the bulb and wiring, hence can scrub etc. If not vacum and few yrs later throw (from Taobao, so its dirt cheap)

The early bird Doesnt get to catch the worm after all...

It's the Mrs here

As the saying goes, the early bird catches the worm. Unfortunately, it doesnt apply in our case.

I am so so so upset, to say the least. And it is all thanks to BoConcept.

Recently received an email from them regarding the design sale with store wide discounts of 20% and additional 5% on preview night. As mentioned above, we have purchased our stuff about a month ago.

What upsets me was that I had asked a few of the sales executive at both outlets if there would be a GSS. They said that most prob there would not be any GSS this year as they had not received any news. Even if there were to be a GSS, the sale would only be on selected items. I took their word for it and purchased my items and now there is a GSS?!? Seems like they were more eager to close the deal rather than be honest.

On a sidenote, I am such a shopaholic and yet I can get deceived. Sheesh! (Must be too much online shopping)

The sales staff are also not well informed re the T&Cs of sales. I shall not go into the specifics but it really gave us quite abit of inconvenience.

Well, what's done cannot be undone. I can only sulk and console myself with this.

1. the additional 5% discount is not alot

2. My furniture can be delivered to me on time rather than in august/ sept

Lessons learnt

1. Never never never believe what the sales say

2. Wait, wait and wait until the sales start! Do not buy before the GSS

Actually they told us the same (we got our stuff from them a few months ago). Say usually the 20% off is only the massive sale during year end around Xmas (which we'd just missed back then). Oh well....sometimes, just have to buy and don't need to think anymore.

Hi,

Can you show more pics of your floor laminating? What kind of material is that?

Hi

Mine isn't laminates. They are ceramic tiles that looks like wood. Hope that helps

Cooker hob,hood & oven purchase:

We knew we wanted a Rinnai cooker hob after all the rave reviews and decided to go down to CItyGas to check it out. Unfortunately, the "checking out" turned out to be a purchase decided and made within 30 mins due to the persistent sales auntie.

Being lazy people, we decided to get the hood and hob from Rinnai. And since my mum and I ( i aspire to be Heston Blumenthal) use the oven occasionally, we purchased the oven, hood and hob all from Rinnai.

Before city gas we actually went to Mayer to look at Ariston. However, we felt that it wasn't worth the price.

Mega Discount Store (Part 1)

We actually thought of purchasing our appliances and TVs etc from Courts/Denki/Gain City, and were quite skeptical of Mega Discount Store ("MDS"), until Lawrenceke mentioned it somewhere in his t-blog. Many thanks to him for this good find.

We didn't have an enjoyable experience in Courts, and since there was a road show by MDS, we decided to pop down to take a look. As with CityGas, we ended up buying all our electrical stuff from MDS on our first visit! This was quite unexpected as we did not want to purchase our items this quickly. I guess their excellent service and MDS being able to match prices of the heartland shops made it easier for us to part with the money! :notti:

What we bought:-

TV for living:

We were never a fan of Korean stuffs and wanted Sony/Panasonic, however we checked with Parisilk, and MDS and both recommended Samsung.

TV (x2) for Dining and MBR :

Mega DIscount Store (Part 2)

Washing machine:

We actually wanted a Bosch. However, the model we wanted is Made in China, and the Parisilk salesman actually recommended a new 8kg washer from Electrolux. Though it is made in Thailand, I'm sure their QC is much better. (no 偷工减料)

Most importantly, it is 400 cheaper than a Made in China Bosch.

Fridge:

We were looking towards getting a F&P as it was 1 of the nicer ones and our previous F&P had served us well. But we were told that F&P's quality has gone downhill over the years (China made) and were thus strongly dissuaded from buying it. The salesman also showed us the rubber seals (whatever u call it), and the interior. Finishing is indeed very bad as compared to last time.

We were recommended a Hitachi :

Soundbar:

Wife dissuaded me into getting the Yamaha 2200, as she foresee that it will be under utilised. I agree with this, as our previous Bose Lifestyle dunno what model was used less than 5 times, and it broke down. Was recommended the Samsung 751, as the salesman from MDS claimed that the sound quality is comparable to the Yamaha :dunno: . Anyway, we purchased it as it wasn't that expensive :
