Onn, You r right! Cost of buying a 5rm in Bishan is equivalent or more than EM in some places........ Congrats on getting an EM too! No regrets as govt is not going to build anymore.

Thanx adidaem. As we are getting bank loan, $42,000 (5% of valuation + $12K) is used for the purchase. Plus renovation, furniture and electrical appliance.. Our saving all empty liao. :bangwall:

Quite a few of us started the reno journey 6 figs behind, so your cash component is considered really good!

Have a smooth reno. :)

Challenge #1:

Kitchen Cabinet:

Wifey wants a Tiffany Blue glass backing, with Black granite top. Was thinking cabinet Tiffany blue, top cabinet door sliver, bottom cabinet door black. Any comments or better colour combination to share? Thanx

I think it's ur personal preference.... I always go for a simple white kitchen. I think black is also not easy to maintain.....Cleong wrote something about this.... Read it somewhere.

I prefer Tiffany blue with white pairing, much like their boxes:

With black cabinet and counter, the entire kitchen may look a bit dark?

It's all down to personal pref, but if black granite top is a must, I'll go for black granite top, white cabinets, metal backsplash and tiffany blue accents like these:

Or if tiffany blue backsplash is a must, I'll go for tiled kitchen tops (like Paloma's place) or white solid surface or marble top with tiffany blue backsplash.

Both options gives a 'bright' kitchen, which I like. I guess I consider tiffany blue to be an accent colour rather than a main colour, which I find to be a bit overwhelming in large doses:

Then again, my place is nearly all-white, which speaks volumes about my 'colour tolerance'.

Most important is to go for whatever your missus wants.
