Project "q"

Recommended Posts

Finally after reading so many blogs in renotalk, it is now my turn to start a T-blog for my 2nd house.

The search for the ideal place started back in August 2012.

After looking at several projects around CCK and Bt Panjang, we lock in our target for a corner unit at “Q”.

We went for a night viewing on a high floor unit and fell in love with the unit layout and view.

An offer was given to the owner the next day but the unit was sold to the couple that view it after us.

Mrs was so upset that we missed out on it as both of us was so keen to get it.

The hunt continue with me flipping the classifieds every day and browsing property guru almost every hour hoping for a corner unit to pop out for sale.

2 weeks after our missed opportunity, a listing for a corner unit at “Q” on property guru popped out.

Immediately I called the agent and arranged for an appointment to view the unit at the earliest available time.

We were the first to view the unit and the unit happens to be just 1 floor below the unit that we missed out.

Mrs and I were thrilled and we were determined to get it (if the price is right).

Though the condition of the unit was not as good as the one we missed, we still decided to offer.

After a little nego on the price, the OTP was signed at 11.30pm  but we will be getting the keys only in end Dec.

The following days were hectic with paper work, getting loan approval and visiting the law firm to exercise the otp.

Now with all these settled, I am waiting for the completion and handover.

After settling all the paper work, the next headache comes to our mind, renovation!!

It was a 6yo unit but the renovation done was not our cup of tea so Mrs and I decided to do a revamp.

We decided on the following works to be done.

Kitchen & Yard:

1) Hack away tiles and cabinets.

2) Redo tiles and cabinets

Living and Dining:

1) Hack away existing TV feature wall, TV console and shoe cabinet

2) Redo TV console and shoe cabinet

MBR/BRM 1/ BRM 2:

1) Hack away existing wardrobe

2) Redo new wardrobe

Flooring :

1) Polish existing marble flooring **** and dining.

2) Re-vanquish existing parquet flooring at MBR, BRM 1 and BRM 2.

Toilet :

1) Hack away tiles and sanitary fittings at MBR toilet, common toilet and yard toilet.

2) Redo new tiles and sanitary fittings.

We will be using back the same ID that did up our flat 8yrs ago. (less one headache of choosing an ID)

We decided to use them back because we had a good experience with them during our renovation journey for our first flat.

Hope it will be another smooth journey.
