Finally bought sofa today! It's a relief to strike another item off the list :P

Ordered this design in turquoise fabric with light grey piping. Although it doesn't come in wooden legs which I prefer, I love the colour and that the high seat backing, very comfy! :sport-smiley-004:

photo21.jpg

Not sure whether to order extra set of cover, which is not cheap, around half the price of our sofa, but I was told by the salesgirl that extra cover usually cost 2/3 the price of the sofa. Is it really true?

Also ordered our custom-make vintage teak wood dining table and bench as well as Tv console, these will come in sexy pencil legs :dribble:

Hi bluecheeze

Any sneak preview pictures of your custom made dining table and tv console? How much does it cost?

yep, extra covers are normally around 2/3 of the price of sofa, but I am guessing the salegirl is thinking you want to reupholster the whole sofa...i was quoted around the same price too.

Went to look at mattresses today, it's a tiring process. Maybe it's me, but other than those which are immediate "not comfy", I can't tell much differences between various mattresses that felt "so so". Anyone who share the same sentiments?

Agreed! I spent most of my life sleeping on a very low-end mattress, so I have no idea what's good and what's not. I only know that I felt a stark difference being on a tempur bed, so we caved in and got ourselves a tempur from robinsons. The service was good, so you can consider if you have a bigger budget allocated for the mattresses!

We got a tempur for my mom too, but she decided on a Simmons in the end as she still preferred mattresses with springs.

Sorry, don't have pictures cos it's custom made. I ordered from Second Charm, you can refer to their blog, they have many photos there. Hope that helps!

Oh yah hor, maybe it's cover for everything... Actually if just just change seat and back cushion covers, can do a two-tone effect! Cos if I do second set, I may go for either yellow or burnt orange colour. :sport-smiley-004:

Am a side sleeper so would prefer something that put less strain on my arm when i side sleeep. A sales person recommended me a mattress with memory foam topper. It felt the best among the ones I tried, though it didn't give those hotel bed-like wow feel. It's a malaysia brand and cost around $3k, which is one of the most expensive mattress among this brand! :dunno:

I am also a side sleeper and took me a while to decide to buy my mattress. But early this month at expo, I was trying out maxcoil but it didn't feel as comfy on my arms even though I tried all their good ones. Then I tried lady Americana. It feels much better and pricing was quite good so I bought it.

After sleeping on it for 2 weeks, I still can't decide whether its really comfortable or not. But I guess no complains means its quite good.... One thing for sure, I didn't feel its as hot as my old king koil. It's not too soft to give me backache nor too hard till I feel like sleeping on wood. I guess it's good enough for me. Hehe....

After reading some renotalkers recommending Sealy Mayfair for sidesleepers, I went to try it, it is SO good! Even more comfy than the Omazz mattress I almost bought. Chop chop ordered Mayfair. Yay, finally can strike it off from the list after the super tiring trying process :sport-smiley-004:

Some inspiration for kitchen...

Should I have the wood-like tiles from living room extend all the way into the kitchen? This creates a better flow I feel, and will blend in better with the half open kitchen concept, similar to what itsybits did for her kitchen as shown in pic 1 & 2 above.

I'm also open to using grey tiles that resembles cement-screed flooring. But will this make the kitchen appear darker than it is? The current kitchen is quite dark, would prefer to create a more airy, bright feel.

In a dilemma also cos the floor colour will affect my kitchen cabinet colours. :dunno: I plan to have top and bottom cabinets on the longer side of kitchen, and bottom cabinet on the shorter side. Ideally, I'd like wood laminate on all the cabinets, combined with white kitchen counter top and white subway tile as backsplash. However, if I were to choose wood-like tiles in the kitchen, I am afraid the kitchen will appear too "woody". No problems if I use grey tiles...

Another alternative is to use white glossy laminate on all cabinets. Or use only white on bottom cabinet, and wood laminate on top cabinets - but will this become too "top heavy"?

Will appreciate your advice!

OMG i love that mini smeg fridge!
