Z3phy 2 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 hi bleucheezeI bought the lightings from Premiere Lighting Centre at 701 Geylang Road #01-03. look for Mr Lim at the shoppaid $60 for the two meters track and $85 for the light holder. The shop offers one year warranty for the energy saving reflectors and is quite flexible in dealing with exchange/return. (got a fiull refund for one of the holder as I find three holders for the living area is a bit of an overkill).hmm... isnt $60 a little too pricey? paiseh.. i'm newbie in all these terms. but i thot tracks are priced at approximately $15 per metre. are there different types of tracks?z3phy

For this reno project I let the contractors supply the items if I feel the price quoted is acceptable. The only exceptions are door handles (the door company quoted $120, I paid $25 for similar items at a shop at jln besar) , the double-glaze windows for my balcony (difference of over $400). And curtain/blinds.

sarah833 3 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 ok. i guess cost isnt everything sometimes =)开心就好。 but the door handles.. wow.. marked up almost 500%??????ya man! I am the kind who doesnt like to haggle over price, just felt it was a little over priced when I was quoted $120 for a door handle ( + lock) and I needed four in total (two for the double door @ master bedroom and one each for the other two bedrooms). went to check out the price at the shop at jln besar I frequented 10 years ago and bought from them instead. Makanology 29 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 Hi remember you were thinking how to jazz up your skinny corridor? Saw something today that may be a good idea for you: Nice long carpet for skinny long corridor by Makanology, on FlickrThis corridor just reminds me of yours. If you can find a similar looking long carpet, then perhaps it is alright to leave the wall bare.

bleucheeze 1 Report post Posted February 24, 2013 (edited) Having a big headache over kitchen tiles! Already chose a Peranakan inspired design but my contractor and a few friends say it may look a bit messy. Then again, when you step into a kitchen, you will tend to look at things at eye level, right? Anyway, let the pictures do the talking....This is our tiny kitchen before reno...Plan to do our kitchen top & bottom cabinets similar to this style (picture above), but in a light brown wood grain laminate for bottom cabinet. This is our shortlisted floor tile. It's one huge 60x60cm piece, 16 designs are printed on one single piece. Due to the small size of our kitchen, the main area will use approximately 9 pieces of 60 x 60cm tiles, this number is excluding the sides where we might have to cut tiles into smaller pieces. The tile in real life looks more muted than in the photo, there's some sort of washed out effect when you scrutinize it.What do you guys think? I like your choice for the kitchen flooring! I think it is ok for the flooring so long your backsplash/ wall tiles be something more subdued so that the floor will stand out. And choose complementary colors for the kitchen cabinets which I think your choice of light brown wood grain laminate should go well. Will stay tuned to see the end result of your kitchen Edited February 24, 2013 by Makanology
