The contractor said work will be starting on 26dec I hope it will turn out well .. I am quite worried abt my flooring as the contractor did not do much in maintaining my flooring.. The parguet flooring wasn't covered up, the tiles were partially covered.. My kitchen cabinet was covered with layer of dust due to the hacking work my water heater was not protected as well.. The hod and hook were covered with dust and I seriously doubt it can till be in use after they fix it back..

alamak... looking at your comments, i felt that i'm so fortunate that my ID din give me all these problems. I can understand your "pek cek" ness when you have to worry about this worry about that..

Initially i also like you, afraid the ID din coordinate well. After 1.5 months of reno, so far so good. And now i already close both eyes, let her handle everything.

Getting an ID suppose to relieve your burden, not to increase.

Anyway wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and have a smooth reno journey ahead!

That's 1 of the downside of getting contractors vs ID, as (from my point of view) they aren't as professional....

Anyway hope everything will turn out smooth for u sista!

Always look on the bright side of life... :sport-smiley-018:

Don't be too fussed about the in-progress situation. Try to wrangle a refurbishment of the flooring and kitchen surfaces after the renovation is completed. The clean up should happen during the touching up phase.

My staircase landing was completely unprotected during the hacking phase and this was the result of the workers moving debris downstairs:

Whatever the parquet contractor did, they managed to plane the parquet down or lacquer the scratches out. You have to be realistic. Doing a partial renovation will involve some spillover to the things that you want to retain. Its more important to secure a written pledge to make good what was damaged during the course of renovation, than worry about protecting it. Not sure if that's a solid surface or granite countertop but I suppose some polishing work can help as well.

Hi split84, maybe u can try to blank / cover or put one corner those item which u intent to reuse.. For the parquet flooring, can ask your contractor to sand down and revarnish, it should looks like new. As for the countertop, think contractor can also polished the surface..

Can revarnishing help with sharp tools dropping on the surface.. I saw a contractor drop an electric drill on it

If the dent is small, contractor can still sand off or they can used some paste to cover the dent, before varnish the parquet. Else, they can also removed the damaged piece with a new piece.
