Nice subway tiles for the kitchen. So by end of this month can complete your renovation? :yamseng:

Not sure! ID said if everything goes according to schedule with no delay in the arrival of materials, we should get it by end of the month. That would be super fast though, considering we only started renovations on 21 December (2012)!

From the pic, the flag of staircases seem steep. Do you have elderly folks living with you? :)

Btw, the quote that my Contractor gave me for an overhaul is around $80-90k. It seems like the average quote for EMs and we are trying to minus out some of the reno which can be wait till later as this cost does not include furniture, home appliances etc.

It's the usual EM stairs, we didn't change it except to overlay parquet strips and plaster smooth the risers. I guess you could consider my mom elderly? She can still climb stairs right now, so we'll work something out when she can't :(

Our renovation is currently at the 90 mark, but that doesn't include variation orders. Think it'll most likely go up to the 96 mark :( (the sum includes everything except off-the-shelf furniture)

Just make sure you do up what's important now. And the areas that would cause too much trouble to renovate later (can't imagine living in a house while renovations go on around), unless you have another place you can stay in during your 2nd round of renovations.

For us, to help ourselves feel better about wiping out our savings, we're planning to leave furnishings that we have no urgent need for till later. Move in with what we have first and see what else is needed to make the place feel like home. The ongoing sales make it a little hard to keep to that resolution though :P

Good luck with yours! :)

May I know how much is the quote for parquet strips for your staircase? Thanks.

We were quoted a lump sum of 3k. Not exactly the best price I think. Our ID is slightly on the higher side for each item, that's how they earn their designer fee I guess.
