Brainstorming Ideas In Advance

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have been a silent reader for the past 10 months and was intending to do so till i got my key... but excitement and all you ppl's reno posts has initiated me to start this pre-reno blog :D ... A bit about my flat-to-be.. We applied for a bto flat nov 2011 in Yishun and got it in the 1st try. Though it isnt the unit I wanted, I didnt wanna cancel it as the prices of these flats were cheaper than other locations. Estimated completeion date is ~1st Qt 2015.. Hopefully we can get in 2014... praying hard  hehe...

It's a 4 room flat and will post the floor plans and designs asap when i figure out =)Pls feel free to commentyea :)

Thanks in advance for dropping by..

welcome to renotalk

now the next thing to do is when u are free go window shopping and look at furniture and style that u like and dont like since u hv so much time when u look around so much by the time u are ready to buy the furniture and stuff u will be a expert in good and bad workmanship and style.try not to just look at one style of furniture look at everything , resort , modern , baroque , scandinavian and other and see which one grow on you eventually and go with your lifestyle and make sure the theme you want for your place the price of the furniture is within your budget and you are able to find the right furniture for the style you want

Hi Rayfox! Thx for dropping by.. Yes u have a very valid point. Right now just looking through online to see the variety of lightings and furniture. But apart from styles, functionality and comfort plays a part too ;) my parent's home has this sofa that looks comfortable but it comes up to the mid-back so when we sit on it, we have no head rest and in the end very uncomfy. So yes will look around. Any furniture shops u recommend? I look at Amazon lightings and also peek through furnituremart.com, beds.sg, lushlush for ideas.

A bit more about what I am looking for... I am looking for a storage home... Since my dining area is big, I would like to add storage area in my dining area.... at the long wall... I am not planning to sell my house in 5 yrs... hence my storage home concept. :)

Please feel free to incorporate my ideas and share comments. Thx!

actually i dont have any particular shop to recommend , but just try to avoid those shop that get a bad review in renotalk , apart from the imm , furniture mall , and those furniture store at sungei kadut and at dempsey hill , u can look at the expatliving free online magazine and they hv some interesting furniture shop feature inside .

try to let the renovation to go with your furnishing instead of the other way round , so u can show the id or contractor the furniture u will be getting and they will work the design around it

The concept that i have in mind... Wooden Concept/ Asian/ oriental... I love the feel and the aesthetic qualities of wood... and it feels home... and not only that a wooden home gives a comfort and cozy feeling and wont be out of fashion. Wooden can be european/ scandinavian or asian. I quite like the idea of asian wooden theme.

Examples of Balinese theme that i saw on the web:

Another pic sourced from a resort villa in Bali. Its different from the 1st 2 pics as its a lot simpler in its design.. but the essence of Bali comes out in the rug and the Rattan fabric sofa. Very interesting perspective to Bali style deco :good:

i like this one. :)

i think when u get the furniture get something more clean cut with a bit of modern twist like the one in your pic , not those dark heavy, rustic or raw looking one.
