Can't decide which flooring should I use for the living room.

Tiles: cold, hard, slippery, but easy to maintain, at least no worries on the water

Laminated flooring: cozy and non-slippery, but need to maintain carefully.

How old is your boy? I also have a boy, 7 yrs old this year. Its better to have tiles because they will spill water easily unless, u are always there to wipe the floor immediately if you are using laminated flooring.

I only do laminated flooring in the bedrooms because the chances of spilling will be lesser as I do not allow my son to eat or drink in the room.

tiles are not slippery. i choose non slippery tiles cos i am also afraid my mum will fall.

and nowadays lots of tiles that are non slippery.... and those woodgrain lookalike tiles will feel cozy too

My boy is 14-mth, a super sporty and active boy Expecting me to clear all the messes on the floor is only in my hb's dream, haha! Notice my boy starts to play water recently, need to seriously consider the consequences of using laminiates in the living room. Thanks!

Got young boy. Please don go for laminate.. Once pee.. More works for you.

Get semi mat homogenouse type then won feel slippy unless you like grossy surface.hehe

You go tiles shop can see and see till eyes blur blur. All types of tiles available. Sure can get suitable one. Hehe....

can try matt surface homogenous tiles, several colours & selection, i will recommend

lian seng hin and hafary tile shop, sales person there can help you to place sample

on floor for you to test try.

You can think of Laminate wood flooring. We have one flooring specialist in singapore, many people are not aware of it. Atleast in this forum I didn't see talking about this company. It is Vohringer Laminate flooring, which is from Germany technology. Recently, for my living room i used this flooring. It's really amazing. Workmanship is too good, that they clearly showed quality in overlay of their planks.

It gives really beautifying looks to living room, where the wear and tear is less compared to kitchen and bedrooms. You can google it for Vohringer contact number and visit their showroom once, They have many models on display, i mean a real floorings made as display. You can have a look at it.

I have 3 young kids at home, dun mention pee, their tendency to spill water is many time more than pee. Previously i use laminate flooring, now change to the waterproof vinyl flooring when i have 3 monsters with superbly high chance of spilling. Went to Evorich, they quoted me $6 PSF (supply and install only), skirting extra charges, remove of current laminate extra charges. drop the idea after getting a quote with everything in. Happen to chance upon a facebook link for a new brand. their quote is more reasonable and within budget. 6 months already, so far so good. Love the feel

As someone mentioned, there are non slipperly, matt, 'textured' tiles available. We specifically looked for tiles that looked like wood. After looking at White Horse, SBH and Hafery, we chose a textured tile..it is not completely flat, but it's colour and texture looks like wood grain.

There is a variety of to choose from, ranging from white, beidge and darker wood colours. Some are smooth, others are textured. It was easier than looking at entire showroom collection of matt tiles, since we had already decided to focus on tiles that looked like wood.

The main reason we were looking for a non slippery tile is because of our senior dog who has severe arthritis..apparently, smooth tiles are harder for him to walk/grip on thus causing more 'shock' negative impact on his joints. We consider him as part of our family..and since we like the cosy look of wooden flooring..minus the maintenance of laminates, tiles are our preferred choice.

I have d same worried as u before, hear alot of feed back regarding laminate that need to maintain alot, in the end i use one room to test first its almost a year now still look good to me n i have water att fr rain water due to OPEN window! lucky i discover n clean it within 4hr or so, and nothing happen. and now i have all my 2 other bed room all done up with laminate...

if u want can call the sale man that i sign with...90627468 eason.

btw if he ask u say u got his name card during rd show at expo, cos my friend did that n told me he got almost same discount price as what i got...
