AIRCON !!!! WHICH COMPANY DO I CHOSE

A bit of history, when I first collected the house keys, I invited two aircon companies to quote for the aircon

Both companies Pxxxxxx and GxxxxxTxxx advised me to used back my old trunking and pipes

Current Aircon System is a mixture of Panasonic non-invertor and invertor system.

My aircon configuration :

Level one Living room single split unit 28k btu, dining area plus maid room - double split unit 18k btu and 9k but

Level two master bedroom singlet split unit 18k btu, family area and playroom - 3 year old panasonic double split unit 9k btu x 2

Level two guest room and level three daughter's bedroom double split unit 9k btu and 12btu, level three family area and son's room 3 tear old Panasonic double split unit 9k btu x 2

I plan to replace all existing aircon units except for the 4sets of Panasonic invertor aircon which are 3years old

1. Pxxxxxx -Aircon

Advised me to take all non- invertor Panasonic aircon and use back sold trunking. Price $5000

2. GxxxxxTxxx Aircon

Came back with a mix of Mitsubishi electric and Mitsubishi starmex invertor aircon. Price 9800

I am very confused

So I seek my contractor's opinion. His best advise was to replace all existing trunking and pipings and go with Mitsubishi starmex or daikin inverter system. I also decided to change one of the aircon from wall mount to a cartridge aircon as I was not comfortable with the idea of the aircon on top of the tv console.

good advise from Jaskel so I started my search again for more information

3. MR Cxxx Aircon contractor

Came back with a QUOTE Of $16,000

Unbelievable. I had no idea it would cost so much...... Money not enough how to spend this amount of money on aircon.

The next best thing I could do was to get more quotes to compare and have more options. Btw, Pxxxxxx aircon was not interested to quote after I asked about mitsubishi invertor aircon. They must have so much business that they don't want to waste time on me.

Back to GxxxxxTxxx Aircon, they are really nice people.... Came back with a quote of $14,700

Mr Contractor said he would arrange for GxxxCxxx and Aron (renotalk) to come down for site visit and give me an alternative quote, but Aron had moved his based to Malaysia and GxxxCxxx too busy ...... Is Singapore really in recession ???

I started searching the Internet for another aircon company, I needed to have two or three quotes before I would made a decision.

Then I found Txxx Cxxx Aircon. Called them yesterday and the boss Mr Ang came down and did a site visit. he is very knowledgeable and well mannered.

4. TxxxCxxx Aircon

Mr Ang gave me a quote of $13,640 after gst. Okay I have a savings of about $800. Not too bad

But wait, mr Ang gave me more !!!! He offered me another combination that would Reduce My cost, one less compressor.

Now my last quote is $ 12, 831

That is another savings of about $800, so in total I will save about $3200 for making the effort to search for more quotations.

Now I have to email this to my hubby who is away for clearance so that we can start work on piping next week.

I am absolutely exhausted and drained.

My configuration looks almost the same as yours...4 compressor units with 8 fan coils of varying capacities from 10 to 24, with hacking and changing of all pipings/ducting for a total of $13786 for Mitsubishi Electric Inverter units with FREE 5 YEAR Warranty!!

I paid uing UOB Card for 36months interest free with GXXX CXXX!!

The specs sounds ok. What is the brand of the copper? Some people prefer use armaflex insulation though.

But most important is the installer, workmanship is more critical. For aircon, I prefer Mitsubishi.

I am not sure of the brand of copper, you are right about workmanship though, the boss MR Ang, sounds very knowledgable and knows what he is talking about. He offered me this insulation or armaflex if i want, according to him thermaflex is better.

FYI, personally I prefer armaflex, have been using armaflex all these while, trusted material. Read before some report that armaflex withstand outdoor heat better, especially the section of insulation that connect to condenses are exposed. My new Hse also use armaflex

did not visit the house today, instead confirmed with some of the vendors on certain " special orders"

Main Auto Swing Gate

I have been getting quotation from gate manufacturers and suppliers for the past few weeks and this is what I found out.

The newspaper advertisements are really " untrue " main gate for $599 is rubbish

After I give the measurement to the vendor, they always come back with a quote that is close to 3000 and above.

That is the price without motor...... That is really expensive.

I started searching the Internet for direct wrought iron manufacturer. ... My angel must be watching over me because I found the right company.

The price of the gate is now $2100 , I was elated. That's is a good deal.

I have found a design which I will ask my vendor to indent for my home. It should be ready in three weeks time

Btw I am also ordering a iron gate from them for my kitchen. Very good deal.

Autogate motor

I recd quite a number of quotations, from swing gate concealed motor, to swing gate arm motor, to sliding gate motor.

Each have their pros and cons. I had to go with Mr David of Brxxxxxx Axxxx as he is really sincere and genuine in serving me.

He did not proposed a very expensive system but a suitable product that can meet my needs.

I am also considering his company for my alarm system, CCTV , intercom.

If there is one thing I learn from this renovation project . We have to be patient in looking for the right product and pricing. Its a learning process.

During the process I meet a salesperson who quoted a very cheap price for the autogate motor. When he turned up, he started telling me I have to pay extra for this cover and that wiring etc etc. when all these items are suppose to be inside a new set. He really tries to bluff me .

Hope my fellow forumers will not run into these people . good night

HEADACHE !!!!!

The sales rep "D" backed out of his proposal for CCTV and Alarm system

Just when i was going to sign on the dotted line with him leaving my house security in his good care.

We requested to add security system on level two. And upon checking with Mr D the status of the wiring, he began to doubt his subcon ability to complete the job. most likely he underquoted and is now worried that his boss might kill him later. So Mr D turned around and said to me, "mdm i think i dont want the job already, i will get another person to quote for this job. I will only do the gate motor and intercom."

WHAT??? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE??? UNCLE CLAIM TO BE VERY EXPERIENCE IN THIS MARKET AND GIVES ME SO MUCH GOOD ADVISE.

i am going to faint already. As much as i respected him and wanted to honor my word to give him the autogate motor and intercom. i began to doubt his ability to deliver his "goods".

He wants another company to quote for my security and alarm job and he can piggyback on their installation guy to lay cable for the intercom system. i know he wants to help me and close his sales but i worry my instinct tells me to run

HOW CAN THIS BE HAPPENING???? ANYONE CAN POINT ME TO THE NEXT BEST THING TO DO?
