Suyun 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2012 Main contractor or IDI have been very sure that I will be happier dealing with a main contractor rather than an ID. Maybe save some $$$ in the process. However, up to date, I have contacted five contractors and two ID and met with four contractorsDarwin interior person was the first one I met, walked into their showrooms for a chat, then I emailed him my floor plan and told him my requirements. He never came back despite me calling him to remind him. Maybe my works are too little for a big company like theirs2nd ID company, met at expo, she keep calling me but I was not keen to meet her as she has bad breathe and poor communication skills.contractor number 1 has provided me with two quotes. He may be the cheapest but maybe my gut feelings is just not right.Contractor number 2 have yet provided me with a quote but he does come across as genuine, knows his worksContractor number 3 claims to know everything but we can't click with him, no chemistry at all. And he has forgotten to quoteContractor number 4 gave up before we met. He said he had too much jobs on his handsContractor number 5 is very experience builder, reminds me of Mr Phua Chu Kang from PCK pte ltd. we have to speak Hokkein. But he is good. I am waiting for his quote too.I am in no hurry to move into this new place as we still have our roof over our head and due to kids schedule, December is a better time for us to move.So Now at 11.29pm. I am thinking of other fellow forumers who have engaged an ID and have completed their projects.Should I invite a couple of ID companies to make me a proposal??? Anyone can help me out on this???Minerat, Jumbopanther, anyone can advise me???
Minerat 1 Report post Posted August 24, 2012 No harm right? If you want I can PM you my ID. They also did another forummer's terrace. I was recommended them by her. Actually they do provide alot of useful feedback which a lay person like me sometimes couldn't possibly know. Cost wise, they are not the cheapest but I find them still competitive. They are also pretty honest in some of the external contractors they recommended to me and that I can engage directly. I've compared prices separately and found almost little to no markups. Minerat 1 Report post Posted September 2, 2012 5 new toilets? That's a lot of toilets!
Suyun 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2012 Yes Minerat , four bedrooms, one study, one playroom(maid bedroom) two utility rooms and five toilets. When i start shopping for tiles to do the toilets, I will have a big headache. Wanted to do all the toilets in with the same tiles but was told it will have no identity. So if I go by number of floors, then I need three sets of tiles to design the toiletsBut I won't be able to spur so much money on those nice tiles as my budget is limited. Someone told me the WCs, sanitary wares, one bathtub, kitchen sinks etc fittings can cost me up to 10k, ouch Must exercise self control.
Minerat 1 Report post Posted September 2, 2012 The bathroom wares are gonna burn a big hole. I spent easily 4k just for 2 toilets. Of course you can save some by not equipping all with the full ra ra like rain showers. Let's see, you can have one resort style, one hotel glam style, one modern style, one English style... Ok I've run out of styles for your toilets. Hahahaa

Minerat 1 Report post Posted September 3, 2012 Your joven water heater seems kinda expensive. I paid only $220 for 25L. Though of course installation done by my ID's plumber already included in the price.
