If its a small room, perhaps get a smaller rug, and if you have furniture that is going on top of it, make sure you factor this into the equation. Secondly, choose the material, be it wool,cashmere, cord or any other, it is vital. Design is also a important factor along with color. Make sure it doesnt clash with the walls. First of all chose a color that is related to the rest of the decor of your living, eg pattern and colour of your sofa/chair, walls and other accessories.
