Hi all, this is my first post after years of viewing this website.

Starting to look for ID for my 9 years house. Is $30k budget a reasonable one? Want to do:

Hacking whole house floor

Homogenous tile for whole house

L box with cove light **** room

False ceiling at entrance

Feature tv wall & tv console

Shoes cabinet

Cover up the bomb shelter

Redo kitchen & 2 toilets

L box for 3 bedroom

Wardrobe for master bedroom

Doesnt seems to cost a lot right? Lol

Really arh. How come I saw some advertise their package for 5 rooms resale is like 20k+ har? Basically the package included everything I want to do leh. First time Reno very scare being cheated; also scare being chopped leh.

Hmmm... as you said package ma... so they probably got set limits. For example, package includes 10feet top and 10feet bottom Kitchen Cabinets plus Solid Surface Top. But usually la (From what i've encountered and quoted so far) resale 5rm Kitchen quite big de, so definitely more than 20feet kitchen cabinets. Then addition if you want to do will add on to the cost lo (Some charge quite high price for additional pfr...). The Solid Surface also likely to use the cheaper brands one too.

So gotta watch out on the T&Cs and clauses, check them out before signing. And another is the quality of material use lo. Things may be cheap but do take note on the materials used But still no harm asking them juz be careful lo. Any queries can ask in this forum too

Packages usually are very basic stuffs, add on different story.

Congrats in getting your 5rm. Hmmm.... 30k really seem a bit tight leh especially you are practically doing everything. I did whatever you wanted minus bomb shelter (as I store room which I did nothing) already nearly 50k.

5Rm to do a decent whole hse reno, I saw my contractor's another project in the midst of my reno....owner din do flooring, wiring not inclusive, alrdy 40k. Therefore, i tin u would stretch beyond 30k. Nonetheless, u got a very nice layout.

Nice reno you have, Your 50k is it excluding things like toilet bowls, bathroom/kitchen fittings and lightings etc.? Which mean have to factor in another 5-10k for all these right?

40k – Need to tighen my waist a bit

50k – Need to get a loan

70k – got to ask my husband to sell his axx already. lol

Thank you thank you. One headache of the layout is that don't know what's the best way to place the sofa, currently it's facing the 4500mm wall so we have to turn all the way back when there's somebody at the main door.

All I can say is budget prudently because there will definitely be VOs during the course of your reno. I started with a reno quote of 70k and is now looking at a VO fast approaching 30k!

Yup, my 50k do not incl toilet accessories or kitchen fittings or lightings. all these make up abt another 10k loh.

so if you plan to do all, then i think most probably abt 40-50k.

minerat, yours is landed. more VO. for hdb flats, its quite ok, not much VO. mine only few hundreds extra cos i wanted to box up some stuff during reno. so if bb_1314 started with 30k and ended up with 60k, that would be crazy.

if i am you, i will place the sofa where the curve windows are. so you can look at the main door plus anyone walking from the kitchen. and can look out of windows too when don't want to look at tv.
