Liltouch 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2012 (edited) 19/20 SeptCollected keys and FS master came to take a look last week. Prepared a bag of assorted fruits, sea salt, tea leaves, rice for the 'ground breaking' ritual done by the master. Glad that the flat is suitable for the family and that the house fs and energy is not bad We were given instructions where to place the sofa, stove, fridge, sink, kitchen cabinets and shelves in the study room. They are nothing unacceptable and not impractical so we will follow the fs instructions. Walls and kitchen cabinets colour are decided. Several options for the kitchen top colour for us to decide.I was also looking at the ceiling and realized that it is all fitted with lighting points, meaning we don't have to do a false ceiling to conceal the wiring. So our cove lightings also may not materialized as I think it's a waste of money to do it when its all done up.In a dilemma now as we don't have lotsa things to do after all so might not need an ID. We decide to leave the orange tiles alone, already paid deposit for the flooring, not do cove ceiling. So what's left is really the carpentry works for the bedrooms wardrobe, shelves, kitchen cabinets (been advised by fs master to do full set on one side of kitchen only) But I'm afraid we don't know how to match the wardrobe and roman blinds colors to the flooring. Hmm... Waiting for hubby's decision whether to use his ID friend or use an contractor.Met our immediate neighbours living opposite. Good thing they quickly kept the laundry racks that took up almost half the corridor knowing that we will be moving in soon. Not so good cos they mentioned that they are glad we are not Indians when they saw us Hubby not very happy as he doesn't like racism. 24 SeptLate afternoon we went down to check for defects. Quite a list and we are not done! Masking tape with writing everywhere! Hubby is really meticulous ie. brought a torch, scour the net for defect check list and wants to check again. So we will be going up in next few day to do another round. We also have the bent top windows in the living room and one of the bedrooms We met another neighbour when I went to borrow a chair from them so we can inspect and check higher up. An old lady staying with her sister and helper. She is glad that we are moving in as she says it will be more lively on our floor. She keeps her door open which I like as we will also keep our door open if we are at home. I am so glad that our apt is quite windy inside when the windows and main door are opened. The house is bright too. Most importantly it is not warm even though the west sun hit the master bedroom at a slight angle I'm so anxious to get things going, renovate and move in quickly but hubby is the type who wants to take it slowly and not rush lest we miss out something plus he is quite busy with work. I guess I have to be patient! So happy to see children playing in the playground and elderly/housewives chit chatting in the communal area when we left at 6+. It's so windy downstairs and so clean! Hope it stays so clean always. Can't wait to move over Edited September 24, 2012 by Liltouch

Liltouch 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2012 (edited) Hi peeps,You may want to consider taking up the EASE program http://www.mnd.gov.sg/BudgetDebate/Enhancement_for_Active_Seniors.html if you have elderly staying with you or if they visit frequently. You only need to provide relationship proof (birth cert) to apply for the scheme. Your parent need not be staying with you ie essential occupier (my mum is not, she has her own flat but will be staying with us). I find the tiles in the bathroom quite slippery now so welcomes the chemical treatment for the flooring. However, you can only choose one bathroom for the chemical treatment. So I will do it for common bathroom but use a non slip bath mat for the master bathroom. Edited September 27, 2012 by Liltouch

Am not going to pay hefty mortgage and let the flat sit there.Wow, why did u wait so long to collect your keys? I got mine in June... Started just before the lunar 7th month, And now still renovating... See how slow I am?!I thought I'm the last to collect keys since we had to repeatedly send in income statements dunno for what, and we were one of the last to select the unit.Anyways, move in early also 30 yr loan, move in late also 30 yr loan (in my case), so no difference. Last week we had our grossly done parquet hacked, and disgustingly laid aircon pipes rerun. now, dunno whether can move in b4 end october.. sigh...

And by the time we were asked to collect the keys, it was one day short of 7th month so we delayed it as we cannot start on anything during the 7th month.
