Liltouch 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2012 Got a flat from the balance of sales flat in Queenstown. We were the last few people to select a flat before it closes. So got the smallest flat but luckily still on relatively high floor. We have yet to collect my keys cos of the Ghost month. Was supposed to collect tomorrow but decide to delay to a month later. I was advised that nothing should be done during the month to avoid disturbing the 'good brothers' since they only come out once year, and we don't want to accidentally 'nail' them during reno. Good thing my friend pointed out to me that we should not take the keys and start paying mortgage if we are going to leave it empty for a month.I have looked at some of the posted photos and the yucky orange tiles. So opiang! And feels irritated that I have to spend money to re do! I seriously pray I don't have to wait 3months to rectify defects, if any. Gosh...imgaine having to pay the mortgage for an empty house. The flat looks so small. Sigh! The only redeeming factor is that it's brand new.I'm just starting to scour the net for ideas and all. Not getting ID to save money. We are looking to do a Scandinavian theme which means maybe the doors have to be changed!! Another added expense!

Liltouch 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2012 (edited) Hi peeps, thank you for your welcome. I sat down with hub last night to discuss the reno work and found out it's not easy boh! Gave me massive headache and anxiety and I am considering to get a ID now. We are meeting a ID friend tonight to discuss and get quotation. Will update then Yoke Chye, are you finishing up your reno work? Can we come by sometime to take a look at the physical space? Thank you. Liltouch 0 Report post Posted August 23, 2012 Thank you Yoke Chye. Will we be in time next Tues or Wed 28th or 29th? Hub on reservist this week. We are in block 61C. We went to meet the ID and his style is he will customize kitchen cabinets space designed for our lifestyle/habits and wardrobe space to cater to our clothings, accessoriesetc etc. Sofa as well, can be customized to fit the family's height, sitting posture. I'm sold!Anyhow we are also meeting another ID so we can have a few quotations to ocmpares prices. We have decided to leave the job to an ID as I have a fear of things not working out ie wrong height, wrong side opening etc etc if we DIY.. I think I better get an expert to do it while I concentrate in doing more sales to cover the cost heh. We went IMM to look at furnitures and saw a sofa that we like but cost $4k and have to wait 8weeks! Gulp! A lot stuff have to pre order and waiting time is 6-8weeks huh. We should be booking our ac by end Aug as one sales guy advised that once Lemon Law kicks in 1Sept, prices will increase 20% to cover the insurance. Do you guys know anything about this Lemon Law? hiker688 0 Report post Posted August 23, 2012 Liltouch, leave everything to ID is not say not good, but u need to carefully judge the ID taste, some ID are really anyhow do thing 1... Also, for furniture & electrical appliances, i went to singapore expo to explore and get the feel, they have a lot of show nowadays, went for few shows to see the difference and also some neighbourhood shop, IMM, HNorman, BDenki, courts etc to get the pricing/promotion. Quite surprisingly some neighbourhood shop sell the same electrical appliances cheaper than those big name by at least $250.. (eg: i saw a fridge cost $1.7+, after discount $1.5+, i went to neighbourhood shop, it cost <$1k with all the standard package offered by big name !! the only drawback, cannot pay installment.. haha)As for delivery of items, it usually will take 6-8weeks and u no need to rush coz ur reno may not finish by then..oh, btw, if u need ID, pm me..
