Apart from the clean lines and beautiful sculpture like design, does it serve its basic purpose as a fan? One question, is it remote operated? Thinking of installing 2 in the living room, one for living and one for dinng. Just want to be sure that I'm putting the money where the mouth is, since this is not the cheapest of all fans. Thanks. Thanks.Hi, I bought 3 units before the big, big, big price increase. It was installed at the living, dining and master room.It is running relatively quiet and windy. However, the strength of the wind is not as strong as the AC motor type of fans like Franco or KDK. Note that Haiku fans is on DC motor type and the maximum wattage is 30w unlike the other brands of AC motor fan whose wattage can go up to 80w at top speed.The price of 1 haiku fan (bought in April 2012) can buy me 2 kdk 44" ceiling and 3 wall fans with some dollar change thrown in (kdk fans bought from Malaysia).Personally, I love the fan and did not hesitate to buy then. Price wise, Haiku is like the Prada or LV premium brands for ceiling fans.Performance wise, very quiet but not as breezy and strong as the noiser fans including KDK. But I'm happy with the wind strength in exchange for fan's oscillation noise. You don't even realise the fan is on as it's so quiet.Energy saving wise, the range is from 4 watts (possible?) to 30 watts. So definitely energy consumption is much lesser. Haiku's electricity consumption at top speed is lesser than the lowest speed of KDK fan.Design wise, certainly better looking than KDK and most brands.Before the big price increase, Haiku fan was 20% (about $150) more ex than a 60" KDK fan. I think installation and delivery not included..1100??!!!Doing my reno currently and at one point in time, did contemplate getting Haikus for my living and MBR but relented due to its costs (was 900ish I last checked about 2 months ago)Eventually, got 3 x 56", 3 x 44" KDKs that set me back $1300ish in all. I am interested to get two of them but at $1000+, I have to think twice.I was also told by the shop it is out of stock.
