Is your flat in Beo Crescent...lay out exactly the same as my friend's....Anyway I really like how you renovate your flat.....looks spacious and bright.

Thanks weezersg! I'm trying hard to go really minimalist with little storage so I'm not able to accumulate stuff. Let's see how well I cope. My place is in Commonwealth, I guess all these flats were built around the same time so the layout is very similar.

Hi restlessness,

May I have your contractor's contact too?

The hardest things to shop for were lights (although now that I've started looking, a nice bed and headboard might be a really close second). I didn't like the lights I saw in most of the lighting shops, a lot of them looked the same and I didn't see anything that was particularly inspiring. I also had the additional headache of that narrow passageway in the bedroom... how to light something like that? In the end, my lights were a mix of online purchases and some desperate last minute decisions.

Thankfully, I'm very happy with all my choices but I'm still trying to fix my living room light... it was the first light I bought because I really fell in love with it. It is a vintage Artemide Tolomeo ceiling lamp from Lorgan's, I think the wire got pulled loose when I moved it so waiting for the electrician to come and do trouble shooting.

Spare bedroom (former utility room)

Walk in wardrobe:

This was one of my last minute desperate purchases, this one was from Ikea... I sort of thought that if I asked the electrician to leave extra long wires inside the light, I might be able to change it once I find a light that I really liked. In the end, I decided I do like it after all and won't be making any changes.

Nice! I also have the same feeling, hard to find nice lights. Do you mean the round drum like lights are from Ikea or the one with the cord? I thought of getting something like your round light for MBR.

Yours Lorgan lights look very nice! Could you share what is the pricing like?

The round drum light was from Ikea. I have no idea how well it will hold up because it seems to be mainly wire, plastic and paper but oh well... the only thing I'm wondering is how to clean it? Maybe just dust with feather duster? :dunno: I originally bought it with Ikea light bulbs which are a little yellow, I switched them out and now that light is really bright... the Ikea bulbs made the room look so dim.

The living room light from Lorgan is a vintage one, brand new would be over $1.5k... I ended up paying about 1/3 of the cost of a new one. :D

Oh, the same thought crossed my mind too. I saw something else similar shape, but more plain fabric. Also wondered how to clean it.

Oh, that's a good deal. I've been thinking of going down Lorgan but perpetually couldn't find time to go down.

I was inspired by this photo but couldn't figure out where to use it. Then I realized it would be an interesting way to light up that corridor in my bedroom.

The catch here is that those stupid pipes don't seem to be available in Singapore. At least I couldn't find anyone who was willing to cut & thread the pipes to the length that I wanted. In the end, I stopped by a Home Depot during a US work trip and ended up bringing them back from the US.

Trying out the positioning... lights have already gone up, I was using the same fabric covered wires that I used in my kitchen lights but in a silver than a grey. The fixtures have been covered in a red plastic bag. :P

I originally used 5 wires (ie 5 lights) in that fixture, then I realized it was seriously overkill  .... sure looked pretty though.

Inspiring kitchen! Do you know the source? I like these so much that I'm thinking of using black laminates for my kitchen cabinet. and the layout is so similar to mine that when I showed the pic to my contractor, he thought I have a friend who live around the same area as me who did these.

I don't know if I would use it as a light for master bedroom though, I think it's a little too flimsy.

Lorgans is pretty fun to browse in if you like vintage style. Lots of stuff and the guys are really friendly. :thumbs up:

Unfortunately I have no idea, I first saw it on pinterest and it comes up pretty regularly with lots of repins. If you end up doing something like this, I think it will look very cool... hope you share it on your t-blog! :)

I'm still considering. Because my kitchen doesn't look as clean cut, it has a beam running across, just above the top of the hood and unfortunately, the hood that I like doesn't have a chimmey too. Posted my kitchen sketch here.

My dining area lights aka octopus light ... since I didn't have any furniture, I thought having lights that I could move around would give me more flexibility on where I placed my dining table or even if I bought a round table.

Dining room lights... taken before the lights got adjusted so still crooked

A little better...

Hi restlessfeet

May I know how long is your cord? I thought of doing something like yours for the light I bought, but the cord is only 1m. not sure if it is possible to achieve a nice effect.

thanks.

Oh, I see what you mean. Personally I think it might make the space look a little too busy unless you have a spacious passageway in your kitchen and can position the light a little further away from the cabinet.
