Nice table! Whats the discount like at egg3 summer sale? the last time I was there about 3 mths ago, they had some stuff that were heavily discounted. I bought a hallway stand with lamp and umbrella holder at 70% off.

That's good! Would you mind sharing if the additional items you have added increased the total bill by a fair or big amount?

hi makan

not a significant increase. about $4,000 more

these are the extra items:

- full height bookcase (open + closed shelving)

- upgrade kitchen tiles to cement tiles (originally it was $3.80psf. i think the cement tiles with sealant cost about $9psf - $10psf?

- add/replace 4x door frames

- build hollow block in bathroom

- add door closer

- upgrade 1 x veneer door to nyatoh door

- change from half glass to full glass door

despite alan's lack of coordination & delays, i must add in a good word for him: he is an honest guy. there's really no hidden cost in his quote & he has billed me as it is. and i believe he has given me some discounts.

his prices are really competitive. all the other contractors/IDs quoted me $45 - $55k.

There's a saying that goes: you pay peanuts, you get peanuts. quality of the renovation works carried out by alan's workers is definitely not compromised - not saying is perfect but it's good for that kind of price i'm paying. the only downside is, as i repeat, his lack of coordination, delays & forgetfulness.

third unlucky (but not unpleasant yet) experience with another furniture merchant: mountain teak

1) delivery was late too, by about 2 - 3 weeks. but at least, they did call me to let me know, unlike Lush Lush who didn't even bother.

2) when table was delivered, it was not leveled hence a bumper has to be placed under one of the legs to stabilise it

3) a lady (didn't get her name) came to my house to take measurements of the legs. It was found out that one of the legs was sawed off slightly shorter than the other 3. unfortunately, no follow ups after that. and i left it at that because i have deemed myself to be really unlucky

4) yesterday, i accidentally smeared some butter onto the tabletop & after i attempted to wipe it off, it left a permanent mark on the surface. i remembered very clearly that the store people have told me that they will be coating the surface with a special chemical to make it oil & water resistant. so why is there a stain now? the butter was smeared on to the table top for no more than 10seconds & now it seemed to have "seeped" into it.

SIGH.

i've emailed to them & am waiting for them to reply. i hope they do not disappoint me.

Hope the company can rectify the issues u face. The coating is especially important, because without it, the wood will spoil/rot off very fast.

I wonder how are they gonna do it now? Come to your house and collect the table back?
